The name of the dahlias grown from seed. I am looking for a magenta one really, and will give the rest away - lovely though they are. It's fun going out to the greenhouse every morning to see what has opened.

Being in nature takes me out of myself like nothing else. After a disturbed night (with nightmares) I walked around the early morning garden and looked in on the greenhouse and in no time at all  left the horrors behind.  Though there are horrors to be found in nature too of course as evidenced by the comments yesterday - best plants eaten, black spot on the favourite rose, a dead bird found under the table and slugs and maggots are hard to love!

Off to water all the pots...

Nature is my saviour too. Funnily enough I had uncomfortable dreams last night too - I put it down to the heat. Totally understand about the dahlias - the first thing I do each morning when I come downstairs is to go outside and look at my roses and my veg to see what has opened/grown... starting the day with that connection makes all the difference doesn't it?

It's a lovely way to start the day Lotta and I think you may be right about the heat and dreams..

Must have been a time for nightmares! I read some off-hand remark about the London plague in 1665--and then wouldn't you know I had a nightmare about it -- literally found myself hiding under the covers because in my "dream" I was told that was the only way to protect myself. Sheesh. Much better to think about your lovely dahlias.

Reading about nightmares running around here I am almost happy I didn't sleep much. All of a sudden 'my glass is half full' again.
Thank you Freda, Lotta and Mary.

That's one way to avoid them!

my night consisted of horrible thoughts about a movie we watched based on Jack London's book Sea Wolf. Such brutality! I've reached an age where, while I know this happens, I don't particularly feel the need to see it. fingers crossed tonight is a better night for all of us.

Like Cath the heat meant problems falling asleep even though the forecast was promising it was cooler. Hope tonight's dreams are of flowers for everyone. I did have a magenta Bishop's child for a few years but the wee soul perished last winter. My current favourite is Dahligria tricolour, not a very attractive name but the colours in the flower are gorgeous and spark joy every time I look at it. Maybe a good thought to hold onto while lying in bed.
