Simply..the longest night....

..the shortest day, and a turning point hopefully!

We need light, lots of light - fairylights, candlelight, and starlight. There will be more daylight from today, and some sunlight would be wonderful (it's been very murky here of late).

It‘s been really grey down here for several weeks, too - though „they“ say we‘ll get a week of snow from Christmas Day and that‘s a game changer when it sparkles in the dark. Having said that, I rather like the cosiness of winter darkness as long as I have enough candles... and don‘t have to go out in it (much).

Oh I envy you the snow! Though we do have sunshine this morning which is cheering.

Hoping that the murk clears (murky here, too), since we have 2 more days to see Jupiter and Saturn side by side.

Big hill between me and the south west horizon, though clear skies for those in the right situation...enjoy this special sight Susan.

Stood up a ladder in the garden for half an hour this dusk, to no avail.
Wondered what the neighbours might make of this!
Will try again, tomorrow.

I love each of these pictures, each of them made me smile. Love the little shining deer.

That little deer looks so alive, doesn’t it?

Hooray the sun is shining after what feels like weeks of gloom with added lumps of doom. Although I quite enjoy the seasonality of long nights it becomes hard when the short days are fairly dark as well. Lights, whether electric or candle, are a blessing. Your decorations are lovely and certainly lighten the darkness for you and anyone who is passing. The street I live in is usually quite restrained about outdoor decorations but this year everyone has made a real effort and trees, bushes and fences all twinkle with lights and I find it both heartwarming and magical.

There’s still a little magic around thank goodness.
