Simply..the magic....

..of being held by the world is the title of this post from Leo Babauta of Zen Habits.

He is also offering a free course in which he encourages acceptance of whatever happens in your life - quite challenging, but interesting too.

I am thinking about it in the context of your comments on Joie de vivre...

Acceptance feels like a huge relief when I can actually do it. A weight shed, a burden lifted. Occasionally it just happens on its own when I'm not expecting it. That's always a bonus! And it frees up so much energy when you're not fighting something that is already the case. But much easier said than done, and some things are incredibly hard to accept... Sometimes it takes a bit of magic... x

read the comments on Joie de vivre yesterday and they have been floating in my mind today. Plenty of "food for thought" there, I'm hoping you'll follow up on this subject.
Thank you for the link, his perspective of how we're being held by the world reasoned with me very much. I don't struggle much with acceptance, it comes naturally with me for the most part and I always feel grateful for that.
But, I also think it keeps me from "dreaming higher"and do "great things", because once you determine and accept that there is nothing more you can do about one situation, then you won't pursue it any more. I keep noticing that nonconformity to what happens in our life is often in the roots of great achievements in life as well.

You raise some interesting points Cristiana. We are always being exhorted to try harder, think bigger etc and I am wondering if this is always wise?

Not wise at all, of course, but still, very hard to ignore...

Another meaningful link. I've listened to his preliminary video/audio earlier this afternoon. Must think about truely committing myself to 44 days of practice a little more before beginning though. Even when realising it would deepen my concept of ' healing' (my year word)

I am just taking it easy with this one - if I miss a day, I miss a day....but useful ideas for me just now.

Leo's post on gratitude and being held by the world is outstanding! Thank you Freda....gratitude...yes we are so pampered compared to folks 100 years ago. It is all too easy for me to slip into an unconscious expectation that life will be smooth and everything i want will be available. (Oh!..and my way, too!) Acceptance of what i simply cannot change....HARD....for me, the hardest work of all.

Pampered compared to so many people today too! I am sometimes embarassed by it..Hard for me, along with millions of others, with regard to grief just now...Gratitude is a good way forward. x

grief can be the hardest of all, no matter how privileged we might be....i remember one of my yoga teachers reminding us all that we can't compare our wounds and think, well mine aren't as bad as some other person's....when we are hurting, it can be at our maximum for us, no matter what anyone else is feeling or suffering...hugs, Freda...
