Simply..the spoof!

There had to be one didn't there?

See it here if you have not yet seen it...

It's clever and says a lot about resilience and wit, but I can't quite laugh yet (as Hillary would say 'It hurts')  ...I'll stick with the original thanks! See yesterday's post.

The death of a dear uncle is giving me pause. He died early on Wednesday morning and I found myself glad that he would not have known the result of the American election. Even at the age of 97 he took a great interest in politics, philosophy and current affairs. Hopping on and off buses with him when he was 96 I asked him if he ever took taxis and he replied, quite seriously, 'I will when I'm older'.

I will miss him, and am thinking of the ways in which he inspired me in order to build some of his good habits into my own life....

Re the parody, perhaps you have already read this article from Thursday's Guardian :

Given that they must have been making the ad for months I'm wondering if they knew something we didn't!

Many condolences for the loss of your uncle Freda. People of that generation were built of solid stuff. My dad was still hopping on his bike in his 80s, even in snowy weather. Your uncle seems to have been very mentally alert too, which is a great blessing.

Thank you Grace. You are so right about that generation. They were amazing.

Clever parody. Like you, I am not quite able to laugh over the results yet--if ever--as it has the potential to become an epic tragedy and not just for the US.

My thoughts are with you on the loss of your beloved uncle.

Dear Freda
What must you think of me! I am still having trouble reaching you. Blogger just does not like Weebly!! So I am here on a very roundabout route - having not been able to fix the problem. (I don't want you to think I am ignoring you or anything - promise :)

Sorry to hear you have lost your uncle who was obviously dear to you - I only have one uncle left in his 80's but bright as a button - I am hoping he is around for many more years to come.

Nice to know you are here Elaine - bother Blogger! My uncle too was bright and interested in everything and had a friend who is 104, soon to be 105! Here's wishing your uncle good health.

I saw the 'new' ad on Facebook yesterday and it did raise a chuckle. Kind of. It is very clever. Also very sad.
So sorry to hear about your uncle Freda.

Of all the uncles and aunts, my own mother is the only one left in our family...and she is as spry as your uncle was. My sincere sympathy, Freda....and i am sure i am not alone in wondering about these excellent habits of his that you hope to incorporate into your life...:-)

So sorry to hear about your Uncle. I hadn't seen this spoof version, it is very clever. There seems to be lots of Christmas videos this year that are being used to give different messages. Have you seen the one What if goodwill to all wasn't only meant for Christmas? Sarah x
