Simply..the ugly duckling....

Designer Bruce Mau advised -

Love your experiments (as you would an ugly child).

Having reacquainted myself with my novel I have to ask myself, says Chris Baty,
Do I want to devote a year of my life to making it better?

Hmmm.

I think the answer is yes.

Having a serious creative project is making me feel - grounded.

Do you have a creative project on the go? Serious or otherwise!

Oh yes! The key word is 'happily' (I once had to write down all of my ideas just to give myself some headspace. It worked!)

One of the things I planned to do in retirement was to do more sewing. However, when I came back from the UK, I discovered that my sewing machine's motherboard had fried (no doubt thanks to our erratic electricity supply). Half as much to fix as to buy a new one, so DH said get a new one. It now awaits my first creation - a pretty red dress for my 2-year old granddaughter. Plan to cut it out today.

Oh, and I bought a new--stronger--surge protector.

What a lovely first sewing project. I hope you have fun with your new machine Mary.

Would it take a year Freda? I was thinking about Julia's comment the other day - make sure you keep your first draft intact - it might be the one! I know what you mean about a project making you feel grounded... I need to get some more of mine out of my head and into reality!

I have no idea how long it might take...am looking forward to finding out. How did your clearing and rearranging project go Lotta?

Really well, thank you Freda... I let go of more stuff than I thought possible and created some much needed space. And the house and I feel lighter... and full of possibilities!

The difference between writing and painting/collage is that you can both keep it and give it away, if you see what I mean. Good luck with the next 13 - what if you love them all too!
