..with my new garden feature....

After a number of delays and several phonecalls it arrived really early this morning before I was even dressed. I flung trousers and a jacket over my PJ's and spent the next few hours positioning it and filling and levelling it and deciding whether or not to put the acer beside it, all the while drinking lots of coffee and having some outdoor breakfast.

I had a fun time and quite forgot I hadn't got dressed properly....

And i have just arrived home and thought i would check in....it’s possible that i am almost as thrilled as you are, Freda. Your photos, again, accentuate your incredible artist’s eye. Deciding placement, and then finding the perfect photo...all breath-taking..i was going to say: the best one was photo #1, but then #2, or maybe #3...they are all sooooo beautiful! And i am so happy for you..

That's beautiful, Freda. Is it an old farm trough, or was it purpose made? You'll have great fun watching all the creatures who come to drink from it, as well as seeing the reflected sky.

It's an (expensive) firebowl Linda and I do think it's going to be a lot of fun.

I love your new Zen water feature. The Japanese maple looks perfect with it. 🙏

Water, plants and stone. The three elements of a Japanese garden.
in other words: life, nature and stillness/rest. A beautiful scene Freda, beautiful photographs too.

Of course I was wondering what you were waiting for to be delivered
I kept returning to one big stone....

That would have worked too and I have a not very large one to place nearby, but the water is more alive - I am even looking forward to seeing rain on it!

Absolutely beautiful and the addition of the Acer anchors it to the drive and garden and just makes it perfect. It goes so well with the stones on the drive.

A beautiful addition to your garden Freda. Is it ceramic or metal ? I think Julias comment about your artistic talent showing through in your garden design and planting is very true .

Thank you MaryB. It's made of corten steel and will change to a rusty colour in time.

That is a perfect addition to your drive. You might even be tempted to add some finer gravel around it just for the pleasure of raking it. I was at Kew Gardens today and love the Japanese garden there. It occurs to me that I could repurpose my metal fire bowl which lurks rather unattractively full of ashes during the winter. But I must check whether it has holes it it!
