We changed the Swedish Christmas candles in the apex window of the roof back to the moon today, and I'm tempted to have this for summer nights....

I will always love Christmas. I don't think I will sign up to this all the same (but it did make me laugh!)

Have you got Christmas 2015 all tucked away in some far corner cupboard?

The star would look nice for summer nights, Freda.

I'm amazed by your Christmas boxes. So streamlined and,...dare I say it? Simple!

Christmas things have all been put away. I do miss the scent of the pine needles from the door wreath. Thankfully, little by little, the days are seeming longer,....

It took me years to accept that organized is simpler! I pick small branches of pine and put them in the bathroom for the smell, but I live in a forest so that is easy for me!

That made me smile, too - but like you, I think I will try and enjoy the moment, instead, since time seems to go so fast anyway!

Christmas was put away on the 7th this year. I reduced the tree ornaments to one box last year; it's always nice to see the special ones re-emerge each year to enjoy for a while. All the rest is now mostly in one large box plus one smaller one, though I might be able to combine those next time, with a couple of larger objects having their own box, but it is all neat and in one place, I'm happy to say. Not as nicely labelled as yours, though lol!
Most houses and flats in Switzerland have cellars or cellar compartments for storage (partly dictated by law and fitted out as emergency fall-out shelters!). As our little house belonged to the mill and is built next to what was the millstream and therefore in danger of flooding, the massively-built ground floor (2' thick walls) holds the cellar, a room with a natural floor to keep it temperate. Though this is great for wine, pet food, tools (we have no garage) and Christmas decorations, I'm afraid it does tend to collect a lot of other stuff, so keeping it in order is an ongoing task! There is another smaller room (about 5x8') which houses the gas heating/electric/water system and which we use for shoes and sports gear. The previous owner strung washing line back and forth across it, which is very handy to use as a drying room for the washing machine just across the hall!

We have a loft (almost emptied!)m no garage thank goodness (hardly anyone I know has room for their car in their garage) and the small shed will be Kondoed this spring. I would like a proper laundry room though....

I bought the star for grand daughter's bedroom. I haven't seen it installed yet but I'm sure it would look lovely in your window.

Some childish things have endless appeal! I am sure your granddaughter loves her star light.

Having difficulty saying goodbye to my angels this year, six of them are still hanging around. Tomorrow they will be wrapped. Since last year's clearing my decorations fit into two boxes too.

In January, my two ceramic polar bears come out to play :)
They make me smile every time I catch sight of them!

I love the Christmas decorations at the time, but it always feels such a relief to put them all away and for the house to feel fresh again. Next stop Spring - that kind of thing!

But it is such a long time till Spring!

Spring is not on my mind today. The temperature dropped about 25 degrees Celsius overnight.

Worse than the cold, the climate in much of Canada is given to big swings in temperature. It's no exaggeration to say there is little or no spring here. We go from winter to summer in a quantum leap that sometimes happens inside a week.

The lights in your apex window are such a lovely touch! Your Christmas boxes look so organised too! I won't be joining the countdown to Christmas either! Sarah x

I sometimes think I am easily pleased, but those lights and that window give me such delight, especially when we come home late and see it shining out...(it's on a timer!)

We had a rainy and windy weekend, so we opted to stay home and pack away the Christmas decorations. They are not a lot (they all fit in just one box, though slightly bigger than yours), but I was nicely surprised with the white space created with removing the tree and the decorations from the living room, I guess I too craving for some calm and order at home! I bet that light in ther in the apex window puts a smile on everyone spotting it :)

White space is so lovely! It would be nice to think the light amuses others too Cristiana!

I live in united states where the traditions of christmas begin the day after thanksgiving...it is one long holiday from thanksgiving until new year's day...i was very surprised the first year we lived here to see all my neighbor's houses decorated completely inside and out the very next day after thanksgiving, but now i like it! So, my decorations all came down on jnauary 2nd. I felt sad to take the tree out...our living room is serene bt looking a bit bare without it! And, while i am proud of how many of the decorations i have released into the universe, i am afraid that i will NEVER pare things down to your two boxes, freda....good on ya!

Maybe I'm becoming a real minimalist (I have thought of myself as having minimalist tendencies) because I really wouldn't want 5 or 6 weeks of decorations around or more than two boxes worth! Lovely that we are all different, yet still have so much in common Julia, don't you think!
