Simply..too much change....

Since my laptop came back this afternoon I cannot find anything!!

It all looks different and it may take me some time to re-orientate myself and make sure everything I need and want is still here somewhere. I lost my purse today - that was enough stress for one day thank you. (I did find it again thankfully.)

So where was I? Ah yes, I still have piles of stuff around the guest room but I have now sorted it into categories as follows..

Things to try to sell on eBay
Things to sell at the village hall fundraiser
Things to offer to family and friends (one gone already)
Things to donate to charity shops
Things to keep - just because.

I have found more treasures I had forgotten about - a lovely piece of old fabric and a favourite sundress. When I locate my photos I will show you them :-)

That sounds like too much happening and it is strange how we start doing things like mislaying the purse or, like me, forgetting my pin number to make life even more difficult. I am glad your laptop is fixed if not quite how you remember it and you will find it everything. It might just take a few days.
I am going for lots of deep breathing and meditation till my brain gets its neurons in order. Hope you find something that helps you.

It might indeed take a few days Sheena. I'm glad you said that - it's a realistic timescale I think. I hope you remembered your pin ok!

Hi Freda - sounds like your laptop has had some updates installed maybe. Mine stopped running properly recently and it was only because of an update that I had kept ignoring at the time - once installed it was fine again- but sometimes there are big differences and pages can look different.
I mislaid my purse recently - it made me feel quite sick - it was only tucked under the front car seat (where incidentally I had put it only an hour earlier and forgotten) - I usually always keep it close by me - it would be such a hassle to lose it and not a big prize for anyone these days as I have very little cash in the purse or in the bank now. I have the idea that I might stick a label on it now saying 'Pensioners Purse only' as a deterrant as it would not be worth anyones while to take it!!
PS I have such a pile of 'waiting' items - waiting for good homes in a similar way to yours. Problem is if it hangs around too long I start having a rummage through it all again and that is detremental to it going as I might just find some keepers after all.

It has indeed had (much needed) updates. I know that sick feeling when you have lost your purse - awful! I'm glad you found yours again too. I shall be glad to get the latest piles of stuff out of the house...

Glad you found your purse and hope the same is true of your photos! Do you have everything backed up elsewhere as well Freda? It sounds like maybe the operating system has been reinstalled to the newest version. I remember vaguely that some versions of windows had an option to switch to a 'classic view' if the new look felt like too much change... don't know if that's still a possibility.

I do have everything on an external hard drive Lotta and my photographs are all there I just can't access them the way I am used to....Am on a very steep learning curve and trying not to fall over! Will investigate the 'classic view' thank you for that.

Perhaps you have no 'viewer' installed to browse your photos?
