A herd of wild boar have been creating havoc in gardens in Strachur, a village on Loch Fyne 11 miles to the north of us and word has it they are heading this way! There are about twenty of them. I didn't even know we had wild boar in Scotland! I wonser if the soap trick works with wild boar..

You could try leaving rashers of bacon around as a hint? But then should that be raw, lightly done or crispy?

Oh my goodness ! Your poor garden ! I had no idea that we had wild boar in the UK . The bacon suggestion made me laugh. How do the Provençal gardeners deter them? It puts the rabbits , voles ,shrews and occasional polecat who visit our garden, into perspective. Stay safe.

I put my smallholder hat on after sending my comment and realised a solution is movable electric fencing , as used for horses and pigs , placed along your garden boundary. Expensive but maybe you could borrow some from horse keeping neighbours.

Not an option I’m afraid as the frontage is on a public footpath and road with many dog walkers.

maybe they're looking for truffles! do you have truffles out in your garden? lol...but really not a laughing matter if they destroy all your hard work.

I suspect the presence of truffles and the likelihood of the wild boars appearing here are both quite unlikely!
