me freda...this article made me want to stay away from the shops for the considerable future! i have everything i need...i did last year, and i will next year..
just think...more time to read, relax and renew...:-)

Hi Freda,

yes, it's sobering to note that when you send your stuff away it still has to be dealt with, and the impact isn't always positive.

This realisation invites us to be really present when we decide to bring more clothing etc.. into our homes. Unless it is ethical, fits well and is good quality, we shouldn't buy it, otherwise it will just add to the growing pile of 'waste'. A friend and I have decided never again to buy a jumper (sweater) made in China. Neither of us is very experienced at knitting, but we are determined not to support slave labour, and not to support poorly made clothes that pill and stretch in no time. We are going to stand proudly together in the staffroom in our hand knits!!

Marie Kondo's book finally arrived and I love it. It is tempting to miss steps and do things my own way, but I'm challenging myself to follow the program correctly, in it's entirety. I would like to experience the 'stupendous' effects she talks about :) I love her quirkiness, and that she talks to her stuff (Louise Hay recommends this too), and I'm so happy this book has made it's way into my life at this time. Would love more updates on how you are progressing with it, and any life changes that may ensue!

Good luck with the knitting! I'm concentrating on getting the loft stuff shifted, then I might try the Kondo method - will let you know...Glad you like it too.

It's a very sobering 'behind the scenes' indeed. It will not easily be forgotten.
You might like something totally different: www.caughtbytheriver.net has a lovely short film of Derek Jarman's garden. I watched it with the sound off the first time, and liked that very much.
