Less rampant! West Wales gets a lot of rain, and things grow - in our garden they never seem to stop growing. We buy 'dwarf' shrubs - Hah! We prune, cut, even hack back. Go in for a cup of tea, look back, and it's ........ growing again. An element of control would be wonderful.

What an unusual problem Linda! Anyone got any answers to this one?

I would like my garden to be tranquil and private. The neighbours hedge started dying a few years ago when we had a deluge of rain and it really has spoiled being in the garden for me. I am planning on planting an olive hedge along my fence to remedy this.

Oh that privacy is so importan. A fence of course is quicker, or plant sooner rather than later//

Serene, private, with a few pieces of garden art that make one smile peeking out here and there....recently, a gardener painted bamboo poles with bright colors and stuck them in her rampant garden...i like that!....might cut down an old half-dead shrub and see what happens if i paint the limbs...:-)

Restful and wild (me), playful (son) labor saving (husband).
I Know you've mentioned a while ago inspirational sources for gardens (books I think), do you know under what categorie it is? It would be very useful at this point!

have been quiet here lately...while I enjoy seeing a garden, I don't particularly like to garden. that said, I have recently read 2 books I'd like to pass along, not 'how to', just 2 women's experiences w their gardens. Unearthed by Alexandra Risen & Cultivate Delight by Diane Ackerman. Thoroughly enjoyed both w/o getting my hands dirty.

I can feel an 'ideal garden' collage coming on... a nice project for a rainy day. (Not today, Summer has returned - 26 degrees - yay!) Loving 'a little on the wild side.' :-)

I wish summer would come back here :-(
A collage will be both fun and useful Lotta.
