Simply Eat....no sugar..

Well done Jill (who is also trying to go sugar free) for refusing lovely free cake!

I went for a period of about seven years without sugar at one time, but gradually it crept back into my diet. It's not like giving up cigarettes or alcohol - you can't just stop, because sugar is hidden in so many of our foods, even unexpected ones like bacon, breads and soup, and supposedly savoury things.

I am starting by cutting out the obvious ones - the cakes and biscuits, sweets and sugary desserts - and am finding it quite easy this time. It does make me notice when I need sugar. At times of stress I need chocolate! It doesn't help, in fact it makes me feel worse after the initial high.

Am losing pounds in weight and saving pounds in cash (I like to think!).

Am gaining in energy and time, as I feel so much better without sugar.

Anyone else feel the same?

I have been a diabetic since 40 years and I know that sugar is almost in every aliment. I have had problems lately and found out that the white aceto balsamico vinegar lifted my blood sugar up high! Still, I think you should not be too radical as a piece (one) of dark chocolate is a beautiful treat and even healthy! Christa PS. Thanks for your friendly comment on my blog!

it's stopping at one that can be the problem for me!

One sugar in coffee and one (dark, luxurious) chocolate with my after-dinner espresso. It's milk and fat that make me feel beastly, and I don't miss either after realising this in the mid-90s. I guess you can become used to anything.

It's great when you find out what's making you feel 'beastly'!

L'heure bleu. There has got to be at least one painting there. Another time when colours are particularly intense is when there is a big black cloud in an otherwisw sunny sky. could be time to take cover then.

Have you tried citronella candles?

Yes! I have yet to make the definitive painting of a cornfield under a summer storm - magnificent - maybe this year. Citronella candles and the like work - up to a point....
