Simply forgot....

..to take photographs today on our trip to the Isle of Bute.

Except for this one.

Picture
I managed to resist.

The peeling paint, rusty chairs, polystyrene cups, cracked formica and general grubbiness at this beach café may have put me off. Why can't we do better than this? It's embarrassing! (I couldn't help but compare it with all those simple clean attractive cafes in yesterday's video of Denmark.)

However the walk along miles of lovely beach in bright sunshine, watching flocks of Canada geese on the sparkling water and listening to their honking calls on the cold wind was invigorating. The lovely colours of sea and sand and views of Arran, the autumn colours - there was lots to enjoy.

And the forecast for tomorrow is good too!

"Banana split", "Bute" and "Arran" don't belong in the same sentence in my view. I'd love to visit Bute and Arran again someday, though.

Enjoy the fine weather tomorrow, Freda!

Seeing as you provided no pictures I looked it up for myself - what a lovely place, no wonder you were enchanted - minus the beach café of course.

It is a lovely green and fertile island Elaine.

Oh, I'm silly! I didn't know what Hygge was, and thought it was a type of whiskey maybe!! Just watched the video now, what a lovely concept. And I like the way the Danish have taken something not very pleasant like using a laundromat and combined it with a cozy cafe experience.

Why not extract as much pleasure as possible from life? Perhaps this is another reason that Copenhagen is said to be top on the happiness scale.

I didn't know what Hygge was either...I thought it might be sheep stomach or something like that. Discovered I couldn't have been more wrong. I have been to Tivoli Gardens years (& years) ago & still remember all the lights.

What a shame you didn't take any pictures. I always used to enjoy this time of year as the geese used to head over our house to feed on the fields. What a shame the cafe wasn't up to much. Sarah x

Watching and listening to the geese made me forget about photographing them!
