Simply grow....

20 days to go to Open Gardens week-end....

The fifty white foxgloves are looking wonderful, and I did think of going out while it is still light to photograph them, but, forgive me, I'm just toooo tired.

If only I took my own advice (see yesterday's post) but the sun was shining, the promised rain didn't come and there is so much to do that I just kept going, and going.. and I so enjoyed it!

(If you are new to the blog I should tell you that Simply Grow is the category with by far the most posts.)

I don't usually buy flowers at this time of year but I couldn't resist these dazzling lime green alstro for £2 a bunch at Lidl.

I added some beech leaves to fill it out.

Off for a hot soak....

I always admire people that open their gardens to the public because of the amount of work involved in getting it ready - I expect you will keep at it right up to the opening day. Whilst we were away we visited a walled garden and the head gardener kept apologizing for the weeds - I told her they added to its charm. There is no way I could make my garden look perfect - ramshackle is how I would describe it - but I'm sure yours will look lovely after all your hard work. I hope you post lots of photos I would love to see the finished products as it were.

Talk about not seeing what's in front of your face: I have a beech hedge and it has never occurred to me to cut any of it for the house. Off I go with the secateurs now!

If you get the timing right Karen and pick branches in spring just as the leaves begin to unfurl - they look like lime green butterflies along the branches - magical!

The images of 50 white foxgloves sounds wonderful! The beech leaves and the alstro looks stunning, like Cornflower I have never thought of picking them for flower arrangements. I hope you had a more restful day. Sarah x

I did have a more restful day Sarah - because it rained! Got more done in that shed though....

Freda, I've been catching up on your blog to soothe me before bed on a day when I've begun, far too late, to prepare for the SEC Synod in Edinburgh this week. I think you've worked the magic - which I shall supplement with a bath in the hope that my brain will stop whirring for now! Your garden looks stunning - must try to see it this year...

I'd love to think it helped the brain to calm down! Hope it lasts Chris. Would love to see you in the garden, whenever....
