Harris is a rough textured place on the whole.

There are few trees, and the rocks are among the oldest in the world. What looks at first like quartz...

                                     There are some beautiful walls.

And in complete contrast there are some very finely textured elements - the delicate shells which make up the sandy beaches....

SO tiny, and so perfect.

All darkly tweedy colours,

Do you think it will inspire some future paintings. I particularly like the photo of the floating grass with the leaves - I reckon the people of Harris must be hardy souls.

I've started some collages today! I think to spend winters up there you must have to have resilienace and inner resources...

Harris looks like a beautiful place. The walls are amazing! How brilliant that their makers wanted to make something beautiful not just functional.

Ooh I love all the tones of the rocks. Beautiful. I can see you would have loved exploring those rock wall formations. I'm glad you had a good holiday my friend. Just a head's up. Your email has been hacked I think. It has sent a spam email regarding a holiday gone wrong in the Phillipines and asking for money. I know that's not where you went on holiday!! :)

Thank you so much for the head's up - I think I've got it sorted. Horrible.

It looks so beautiful.
I once went to Shetland. When the sun came out it looked like the Caribbean without the palm trees!
