Simply Move..and Simply Listen....

Every day for 30 days I will do this exercise routine.

Today is the first of June and I'm taking up Leo Babauta's challenge (see here)

And reminding myself that this means doing it every day even when I really don't want to!

I shall observe carefully (journaling as Babauta suggests) and see if I feel different after 30 days, and although she knows what an exercise wimp I am I know that Angela will be cheering me on.

If you were to take up his 30 day challenge to learn something new what would it be?

I'm afloat on pink and a cloud of Puccini. I listened to Opera on 3 tonight  O Mio Babbino Caro - pretty wonderful.  I listened to all the you tube versions and chose Angela Gheorghiu  - pretty wonderful too (it will be in your head all day tomorrow!)

i will recommit to my yoga and meditation practice which has gone by the wayside in the last few months...started today and it feels so good to be back on the mat!

I shall think of you in your cabin by the lake!

I do so admire you for challenging yourself all the time - it's no use me doing the same thing as I hate to be regimented in that way - I have got to want to do something rather than be forced to do it - I am a little bit contrary that way.

I always say I don't like being told what to do - unless it's me that's doing the telling! A bit twisted isn't it....but I need to feel I'm the one in charge - or something....! You've made me think Elaine!

I've signed up too, but have fallen at the first hurdle as I missed yesterday! Mind you fretting my youngest packed and to the airport for 6 weeks in Florence having picked her and all her belongings up from uni on Sunday constitutes enough of a workout. That's what I'm telling myself ,anyway!!

You have been busy! Just tack on a day at the end - after all it hardly matters which 30 days....6 weeks in Florence - oh to be back at uni (with a Mum like you).

A while ago I set myself a 21 days challenge. I read somewhere long ago 21 days is what's needed to get a new habit firmly rooted. Sometimes things like these linger in my mind for ages before putting them into practice.

The first round was about taking 'whites' between activities rather than going from one thing to the next.
I'm on my third round of 21 days now and this is about consciously doing one act of 'selfless service' every day.

I've not heard the term 'whites' before Cath. An act of selfless service is a lovely thing to do and think about.

I'm impressed at your commitment Freda. I'm a little bit like Elaine, I don't like feeling that there's something I 'have' to do each day, even if it's something I like - somehow it sort of sucks the life out of it for me. It's just the way my brain works! If it's something I'm passionate or excited about, or just feels really important then I throw myself into it completely and it somehow naturally becomes a pattern in my life. Having said that, like you I am trying to incorporate a bit of gentle exercise into my life at the moment as well as walking. So far I've been bouncing on a rebounder (small trampoline in my living room!) - wonderful childish fun, but great exercise and gentle on your body. Also helps release serotonin, so I'm literally jumping for joy!

Somehow exercise never ever got me excited or felt important which is why I'm taking this approach! (I'll be impressed myself if I keep it up for 30 days - but I am determined and making it public will spur me on I hope.) Love to think of you jumping for joy! 'Lotta Jumps for Joy'. Sounds like another story book....

I'm definitely cheering you on, Freda! I hope once the initial exhaustion hurdle is overcome you look forward to it every day during your challenge and feel the benefits. I think it's a great thing to push yourself to do something you really 'struggle' with, especially if you know it's for a short/set time.
