Simply stylish....

I love this top from COS. Clever tucks and folds have created a lovely shape and the disjointed pattern on the fabric adds to the complexity, yet it is not fussy. Deconstructed is the word that comes to mind!

I plan to make it the foundation of a capsule wardrobe, something I've always liked the sound of but never really focussed on before.

That is a bit different and makes a change from the usual asymmetric offerings. They may have to restock because of your recommendation!

Can I just ask what the fabric is? I couldn't find it online.

It's 95% cotton and 5% elastane Lucille.

That top will look excellent on you. I can see why you like it so much.

COS is new to me. Must investigate later as the top´s design is lovely
and so are the colours. I have a capsule wardrobe since early 2017 and
will not change back to how it was, ever. My winter capsule is the best. My summer capsule still needs an other pair of trousers as foundation.

Well done Cath! How good to know you are so happy with it and that it works for you. I have a sort-of capsule wardrobe - I just need to refine it quite a bit....

I have been wearing capsule wardrobes for the past years and will never go back. It seems you're starting off very well!
My humble tips: find out what your uniform (the type of clothes you feel comfortable wearing anywhere) is and build your wardrobe around it. Choose few colours that work well together for the foundation and add interest through form, texture and print. Usually, people say that you shouldn't mix prints but I find that if you mix a different pattern within the same colour the result is very interesting. Same for different textures. And you can always add colourful accessories when you need a colour lift!

It is good to hear from people for whom this really works! I do agree with your views on limited mixing of patterns and textures - that's something I hope to experiment with a bit more. Thank you Cristiana.

Oh, capsule wardrobes...don‘t get me started! I have been fascinated with them since I was about 10 and now they are such a big thing!! Not that I am very good at having a well-organised one, though, I‘m afraid. Love all the challenges, 6 item, 10x10, 333 and so on 🙃
What a great top, a cool starting point for thinking about colour and style...

You have reminded me of paper cut-out dolls - they had 'capsule wardrobes' didn't they! I liked those.

Your top is reminiscent of designer, Issey Miyake, who folds fabric back onto itself, like origami.

I find COS good at this kind of thing (probably inspired by Issey Miyake but very affordable!)

I've always loved the idea of a capsule wardrobe; I just haven't mastered the discipline yet. I love putting my clothes away then bringing them out to wear again several years later.
