When it all gets a bit too blingy and shouty for me.. it's nice to come home to my own simpler version. So far I am enjoying a very minimal look..but that may change. Have you put up decorations yet?

The perfect illustration of the phrase "Christmas excess." I much more appreciate your home made wreath on the front door!

It is lovely to see the over the top decorations but only in small doses and then, like you , I am glad to come home for a rest. There is a distinct lack of decorations in my house at the moment but suspect it is because I am too lazy to go up to the attic and fetch them down. Lots of time yet.

My sister introduces red things, like towels, and table, mats, etcetera before bringing out actual Christmas things, like a manger.

Had this exact response at the garden centre at the weekend! I found it quite numbing. But, when I got home and back to my own minimal decorations, I settled back into enjoying my own peaceful take on the season. Mind you, was lovely to see your shots of Princes Square. My dad used to work there when it was still offices! Decades.

How lovely to come back to your simple peace. Lots of houses round here shouting and flashing with lights. All put up too early. So much more meaningful to contain oneself to the last few days before Christmas. That's what I remember from my childhood & associate that with real joy.

That is what I remember too. I started earlier than usual this year. I think I needed the cheer of it more than usual!

There’s still time for a sprig of holly, perhaps?
