Simply..a fairy tale....

We saw Moscow Ballet's Swan Lake last night (a delightful Mothers Day gift - thank you both!). It is surely one of the loveliest of the fairy tale ballets. Nadezda Ivanova was a wonderful Odette/Odille but I think my favourite part is the corps de ballet in the moonlight in Act 2 - the music, the costumes, the synchronisation - enchantment!

This was the traditional Petipa choreography - see 4 min clip here. Have any of you seen Matthew Bourne's version with the male swans?

I saw Mathew Bourne's a few weeks ago in Glasgow. I loved the strong, dynamic, erotic male swans and would recommend it. I think it's going to Edinburgh in May.

It was a lovely treat - my daughters are so thoughtful. Sadly I can't get either the link to you tube or the link back to your blog to work (but I did find another of the Nutcracker - thank you Vivien).

What a wonderful present from your daughters. I haven't seen any professional ballet since I visited Convent Garden while at school. The video clip reminded me of how beautiful it is. Sarah x
