Simply..a fresh start....

I will of course start eating sensibly again, but first I have to finish off the leftover cake, biscuits, ice cream and chocolate covered raisins because I can't possibly eat well while they are in the cupboards and the sooner I scoff them all the sooner I will be eating healthy again. I know there is a flaw in this train of thought but I can't quite see a way out. I mean it would be wrong to bin all that nice food and I have given away as much as people are willing to take (they all have their own hoard).

However, after a day of indulgence, which I didn't really enjoy, I am ready for a fresh start.

I like new beginnings, a new notebook, a new resolution, a new page, a blank canvas...

So, open all the windows - even if its raining and blowing

Empty the rubbish bins, recycle the bottles.

Ear vegetables, drink water.

Picture

Clear off one surface - even if that means just piling it all up on another surface for now...

Light a fresh candle.

Get outside. I was only going to the bottle bank but bumped into a friend and went a much longer walk. You know you will feel better for it.

Then make a cup of coffee and sit down and write about it!

Even if you don't write a blog - a new diary? Your own Thought For The Day? A new list?

Blogging is an odd thing in many ways, but it certainly makes my life more fun!

I'm off to do Fly Lady's Home Blessing Hour - I listen to her as I do it - she's so wonderful and  makes me laugh.

Laughing as I do the housework? Who'd have thought it!

Have a great day.

Laughing about trying to get rid of all the holiday goodies. Viv has been saying the same thing in her posts and I have been commiserating with her--and trying desperately to get rid of all the food items that are not normally in the house.

I've still not written in my new journal--even though I wrote every day in December. That beautiful blank page/new book is intimidating me a bit, but exciting me, too. Have just listed that I must write today on my to-do list. I keep a separate journal for that purpose. I find that if I write a to-do item in the book, I am much more likely to follow through with it. As though it were a promise to keep. One way to keep on task -- probably one reason I try not to list too many housework items on it. :)

It's quite a big switch to get back to 'normal' isn't it. Good luck Mary!

Nothing of significance has changed here for me in Wheeling, Freda, except that i have officially “put away Christmas”. And yet i, too, am feeling the freshness of a new year..and somehow, less sense of obligation. I have a feeling of liberation. Not sure where it came from, but it is a gift. And out of that fresh feeling, new art is flowing. It is delightful. And as i think of it, now that i have spent so many years simplifying, i don’t even keep a to-do list...the to-do’s are few enough to be instantly visible reminders...:-)

You sound as though you are in a very nice place at the beginning of this new year! Wonderful.

I have no idea whether this is true or not, but I once read of a nutrition theory that went something like this: eating extra calories (lets say double) for two or three days over Christmas does less damage to the body than if you were to spread those calories out over several weeks.
And I've said this before, but I do envy you your views from your windows!

Whew! I will hope it is true. (I am so lucky to have that view.)

I am belatedly noting, also, that your do not have screens on your windows...does scotland not have to deal with insects and mosquitos?
That would be heaven!

The odd wasp in summer. Midgies, but not in the house thankfully.

My 'new beginnings' include pacing myself so for a few days my angellic Christmas decorations are put away one at the time. When I come to those that need to be boxed up to be stored it will speed up.
While your words are full of action your photographs breathe stillness, what a lovely balance.

Decorations will be put away tomorrow. A sense of peace decends for a while...
