Simply..a quiet start....

I just love a quiet start to my day.

I remember last year Lotta mentioned the idea of a Winter Plan and one is slowly forming in my mind. It involves quiet starts and reading some books I've had in mind to read for a long time, like this one which I first saw in the Peggy Guggenheim in Venice in April (a little thrill as I write that - did I really go? Did that really happen?)

The leaves on the rowan outside the bedroom window have gone now and we have had two very cold, very sunny days.  I think I will find a new notebook for the Winter Plan

Did anyone see the Orionid meteor shower? Although there was little cloud he moon was too bright. Some stargazing could be part of winter. I will plan some outdoor things to counteract the tendency to hibernate!

What will you do?

My life has 2 seasons -“kitten”(April-Nov....I do rescue, foster) and rest of the year. I use the chilly afternoons to craft, catch up on reading, napping. I will incorporate your idea of winter stargazing.

What unusual seasons Gail. That sounds like a wonderful thing to do.

I like your idea of quiet starts and a catchup on reading. Have just started Susan Hill's Jacob's Room is Full of Books. A Year Of Reading. Also planning to put aside some writing afternoons and try to renegade with a project I thought about last autumn and out to one side. This October signed up for a poetry prompt every morning from Wendy Pratt.

Isn't it wonderful to have projects? It sounds like you have some interesting ones lined up/

My Winter Plan also involves reading (about myth) and writing.
As much as I now am longing for a new notebook - hope to see your's here...- the notebook format doesn't work for the writing I have in mind. It will be sheets of lined paper for me, which will make it easier to reshuffle the writing as I go.

I am practicing a routine of two quiet moments during the day. One at the start of the day and one after lunch. I am beginning to look forward to both so the practice is working.

It is wonderful to read and hold a book in your hands which has good memories attached to it. It deepens the joy.

Hearing of yours I more and more think Winter Plans are a great idea. I have a lovely small shelf of notebooks I have bought and been given so will be 'shopping at home' for the right one.

That sounds/looks lovely Freda. (I always like your inquisitive birds!) This year seems to be less about plans and more about an evolution for me - going with the flow and listening to instincts/ideas/urges etc as they arise... but it's serving me well so far. So no solid Winter Plan this time but I do have some ideas forming...
