Oh, and I've also copied in that list of 'wrong reasons' from yesterday's blog. I take this notebook with me when I go to the city, and if in doubt about something I go for a coffee and consult it. I believe it has saved me from many a mistake! Love it.

I don't buy that many new clothes - I have a good wardrobe of 'basics' with navy as the base colour and add soft heathery colours, bright fuschias or magenta and pale greys or soft blues - all of which suit my colouring. So I mostly mix and match what I have already. I mainly stick to separates as I can never find a dress style that suits me. After sixty odd years of dressing myself I think I know by now what I like and what suits me - odd mistakes occur but they don't linger long in the wardrobe.

'Stick with a style and add a piece or two a year' is one of the quotes I copied into my book....(we suit the same colours!)

I wish I had kept notebooks earlier on to refer back to. I think they would have been a very interesting personal history of my changing or abiding preferences. I still have sudden hankerings after a discarded item of clothing from my distant past. Too ruthless sometimes. Also interesting would be to see which shops have fallen from favour and which new ones have appeared.

East, River Island, Monsoon, Laura Ashley, long gone. Oska, Sahara and Toast in but wincing at the prices and waiting for sales. Oh and I have a lovely coat from Cabbages and Roses which was worth every penny and has been worn for years. Shoon online has a really good selection of shoes and boots but I also like Camper.
