Simply..barking....

I thought  that bark wrapped around a jam jar with a tea light in it would make a glowing little lamp, but the bark is too thick and not enough light shines through..

But then I saw that it can still be used for wrapping gifts, including (unlit) candles, and bottles of wine....

Instead of looking for wrapping to fit the presents, I'll be looking for presents that fit the wrapping!

A little blog break coming up - have a lovely week-end and take a look here if you have time at a most unusual entry for this year's Turner Prize....

Was I the only one who immediately thought of the Amish community building projects?!
Actually also not uncommon to see buildings go up like this around here, as we have a lot of young carpenters/roofers and also journeyers who are specialists in this style of framing.

My first thought too, and quite appropriate as they seem to work co-operately always.

Beautiful wrapping, it would be lovely to use in some way for a table centrepiece too. The Turner Prize entry is interesting, although for a millisecond I was hoping it might be your Freda Anne rose cuttings in potatoes that you'd entered! Have a lovely weekend. 😊

I think some of those cuttings have taken Lotta! Spring will tell. I hope you also had a lovely week-end.

The Turner Prize entry is interesting. I prefer this idea to large-scale conceptual art indoors.

Lovely wrapping ideas. I`m going to spend some time this weekend wrapping and hope to get it all done. It`s Christmas card writing weekend too!

An inventive use of tree bark Freda - it looks very rustic.

Another blog I read, just before Christmas the family gets together to make a village out of small boxes (toothpaste, pasta, candy) wrapped with birch bark. They use moss, pine cones, & other natural things to decorate the houses with. More involved than I want to get, but goes to show how creative people can be with things they find in nature.

The doing it together is the nicest bit of this idea Cathy...
