Or at least battening down the rarpaulin on the logs. Gales tonight. The Country Living magazines don't show you what hard work living in the countryside is!

To cheer myself up I went looking for the shed in prettier times....

Did anyone else see the giant white bird and the small black one in yesterday's photograph?

I am sure it is was a good omen....or I would be if I believed in omens. :-)

Gosh, I see the birds now. How very observant you are, Freda. Don't think I believe in omens either but am cheered up immensely by all the signs of growth in the garden even if the weather is stormy.

I saw the large bird, but missed the small one in your photo.

Wasn't too pleasant here yesterday either. Started out fine, but quickly deteriorated to heavy rain/wind and then ended in a bout of very large snowflakes. Had to pick up my grandson from daycare as his parents were caught in traffic jams. Driving at night in that kind of snow is a little like going through the film version of hyperspace. A tad disorienting. Fortunately, everyone made it home safe and sound.

Gale warnings on the Chesapeake Bay (my very close neighbor) today, too. Hold on to your hat!

They don't tell you how wet it can be on the west coast either, in my case, South West of Wales! I've met many people who've moved here after spending wonderful summer holidays in the area, only to complain in the first winter!

I saw the black bird and finally, after many attempts, my brain has been able to “see” the white one...our minds do play tricks of all kinds on us, don’t they?
Now about all that wood...country living is a lot of work indeed! And i imagine that a gym membership is not necessary when you regularly stack wood! Hope the rain lets up so that you can get that done, Freda.

I will be happier when it is all under cover (the tarp has holes in!) Definitely no need for a gym.

Do you need a hand? I love stacking logs! It was pretty windy here yesterday and more tomorrow apparently, but ever so mild for this time of year. Well, mild enough to only be wearing 4 layers instead of 6!
