Simply..clutter creep....

I breathe more easily when my space is uncluttered. This table right now has nine things on it, the side cupboard eight, the red desk seven...I can feel a clutter clear coming on.

It just quietly creeps in when I am not paying attention....

Do you find this too?

what a beautiful vase of greens!

I'm in the middle of re-decluttering...again. it's amazing how things creep into the house. I try hard not to be complicit, but there it is, on table tops & in drawers...a bunch of 'stuff' & I need to get it out.

Oh Freda, your picture has just inspired me to get stuck in again with de-cluttering/kondoing. I need that clear space!
Clutter has crept into my house and my head while I wasn't looking and taken over both... I wonder which happens first? A bit of a vicious circle I think. Time for a virtuous circle...

I think the question I shall be asking myself when I'm in two minds about keeping something is - 'do I want this more than I want clear space?'

The perfect question!

Being short on cupboard space, I have nowhere to put away as many things as I would really like out of sight. It's not actually too untidy, just a bit full, if that makes sense, and whilst I love the idea of minimalist living, I'm not sure I could actually live like that!

It is knowing what level of 'fullness' you are happy living with isn't it Linda.

26 things on this table! Many of them having absolutely no business being there but firmly rooted as if by Divine right. A pair of dice? A yellow button? A rusty pin? A Field Marshall Right Honourable Lord Roberts button that I found in the garden? What does this say about me?

Maybe it says you are a curious, interested, magpie-like gambler/knitter/seamstress? :-)

Yes!
I never want to see a greetings card again or spend money on one after clearing out 50 years' worth from my granny's house (even though they are also a document of how well-loved she is!) :o
And after having some very old furniture that I love re-upholstered, some other things are going to have to go... it's ruthless time!

Plus, 7 days away and you come home with a different view of it so lots to be done here.

50 years worth!! Help - how long did that take and did you feel obliged to read them all? Purge time here too.

My house is a temple to clutter. Sufficient to reduce Marie Kondo to a quivering wreck! Sometimes it bothers me. Most of the time I just ignore it. But I am planning to have another declutter this summer holiday. Wish me luck. I'm going to need it.

I do wish you luck. Will you re-read Marie Kondo before you start? That always motivates me..and makes me smile while I do it.

Over the past week I have experienced (again) that it works both ways: not only a clutterfree space quiets a restless mind but also a restless mind - whatever it is occupied with; be it worry or pain attracts clutter in a major way.
I rather not count the items on my desk today. The same desk I managed to keep totally empty for months. Just one implant and that was changed thoroughly.
Let's clutter clear.

In a beach vacation home at the moment with children and grandchildren. The top floor of the house overlooks the ocean and has a very large, many windowed, open space for living room, dining room and kitchen which is great for socializing but I find myself constantly picking up and straightening things--especially grandchildren's toys. Not obsessively, but just trying to keep a little bit of order amidst the (good) chaos.

Oh there is good clutter just as there is good chaos - enjoy what sounds like a wonderful holiday!

I love the space, it's been quite uncluttered here this week but our daughter is returning from a camping holiday later so it will look very different later! Sarah x

I bet her things come under 'good clutter' Sarah.
