I like this quote from Julia Cameron's book It's Never Too Late To Begin Again -

The quality of our lives is in proportion, always, to our capacity for delight.

I was extolling the virtues of the real thing in yesterday's post, but these utterly artificial tulips charmed me.

I found the card in Lotte Inch Gallery in York, and it delighted me, as did the website of its designer.

I saw a film at my local cinema last night called La Philo Vagabonde, with Alain Guyard. One of the subjects raised was the quest for happiness. In a nutshell, his message was that such a quest was futile and we that we should rather focus on experiencing moments of joy.

I bought a small bouquet at the farmer's market yesterday. just 5 or 6 blossoms, but 1 is a purpley-lavender dahlia that's simply gorgeous. I carry the vase from room to room with me. live flowers won't be around much longer, but those red tulips could make me smile all winter!

No tulips this time, but I've planted different varieties of white helibores, lavender, some new roses and finally finishing the front hedge which is white escalonia. I also potted up a couple of stunning,deep blue hydrangeas grown from cuttings. Blue hydrangeas have been on my wish list for years!

a glorious sunny day today. i have washed all the windows. they are crystal clear in prep for winter, and that delights me...:-)
