Simply..galvanised....

..to sketch and paint, having just spent a few inspiring days with my artist friend Caroline Bailey who generously invited me to share her wonderful studio space. See Caroline's stunning work here.

The journey to Skye where she is now based meant a bus route along the shores of Loch Lomond, through moody Glencoe and over the bridge to windy Skye and its stunning west coast.

Apart from her obvious talent (she is a wonderful colourist) I am so impressed by Caroline's commitment and sheer hard work, and - that word again - passion.

She has just had a very successful show at the Walker Art Gallery in Harrogate.

No more excuses Freda.

Just do it.

I got a little boost too from an email while I was in Venice to say that I had sold four small paintings in a local gallery.......and I'm staying home now, 'til at least next Tuesday!

Amazing to see that snow on the Scottish hills while we're having freak summer temperatures here in Paris. Caroline's studio looks heavenly. I'm off to have a look at her work. Delighted to hear you are picking up your brushes Freda.

Today was warm(ish) but rain is forecast for the next seven days. Definitely not summer yet..

What a view from her studio. How does she manage to get any (fabulous) work done? I'd just be sitting, watching it all day. I'm envious of your views as well, though.

Caroline does have all round wonderful views and notices all the subtle changes of light which she puts into her pictures. I'm glad you like them Linda. I bought one many years ago and spoke to Caroline at the private view which was how I got to know her.

I can see why passion has been re-ignited, freda...both the visit to venice and to skye...stunning! And your friend’s work....stunning as well...but best of all: selling some of your work!!! What a boost!...excellent!..:-) and now the gift of spring as well...

No, not at the moment Freda... and while the kilns are not in use I should really be kondoing the workshop... ENORMOUS task - will also be chaos!
