The lupins suffered in the wind..

campanula lactiflora, usually vulnerable, held up well.

Better than the geranium Rozanne at its feet.

Surprisingly the tender heliotrope is doing really well,

as are the fuchsia 'Checkerboard'

We took a chance, leaving the heavy daisy pots on the steps.

You just never know with a garden and the weather. Cutting back the wind damage in the lupin bed made me see that this area needs an overhaul. I'm thinking white daffodils, a white campanula lactiflora, and the white silene I am growing from seed and have just pricked out, and I'll divide and replant the lupins.

Gardeners are optimists!

This afternoon and evening were beautiful....

I'm speechless whenever I look at pictures of your garden, challenges with sweet peas and poppies this year notwithstanding.

It's really, really lovely.

I love the daisies in pots up the steps Freda, they have a beautiful informality about them - a lovely welcome.

Such a lovely, lovely garden.
I fell in love with purple campanula this year, especially the ones that survived my cutting them back ánd winter. I haver been expressing my gratitude to them. White seems nice too..

For some reason your blog disappeared from my reading list - some technical glitch I guess - I will re-enlist you just to make sure. Wind can wreak havoc on the garden - what a shame about your lupins - but at least everything else seems to have survived - I suppose it depends on the direction of the wind. Looking forward to seeing your re-vamp.

Thanks Elaine - technical glitches abound. We'll start replanting this autumn I think..

Those poor lupins look so wind swept, such a shame! I'm glad the weather improved so you could enjoy being outside in your beautiful garden. Sarah x
