Simply..guilty as charged m'lud....

Advice, guidelines, rules or laws - it's not clear what's what!  Stay at home and don't mingle, or Eat Out To Help Out and support all the people trying to earn an honest living and get the economy going again? I am going to feel pangs of guilt whatever I do. Have there ever been such mixed messages?

Trying to be positive in the midst of this pandemic is proving to be challenging, isn' it?

I can only manage it by setting my own house in order. I do have some control here and opinions I can trust (mine!). Having made a good stab at Kondoing the whole house (nearly completed though I ran out of steam with the miscellaneous category) I am now having downstairs decorated.

I am shocked at how bad it is when I take down all the paintings and curtains and remove all the decorative things from the kitchen. sitting room and hall and stairs.

While it is all being painted I will be socially distanced upstairs or in the studio or garden finishing off the Kondo process I hope.

Expensive work requring scaffolding will be done on the chimney, and the hedges will be trimmed and the grass given its last cut before winter.

Such an upheaval!  But I am focussing on how it will feel in a few weeks time - fresh and tidy, water and windproof, and I'll be ready to snuggle down for the duration if need be.

Are you managing to find a positive? Do share - we all need all the positivity we can get!

It helps me so much to share my thoughts here.

I hope it helps you too.

You are inspirational! I have so many things that need doing in my house which I haven't had the energy to contemplate. You put me to shame. I will now start doing my own Kondoing which is long overdue! I very much enjoy your wonderful calming blog. Thank you.

Oh it will be so wonderful when all is done, Freda🥰. I love remodeling and redecorating (in my mind mostly). I stalk all the sites on the Internet about such things. In another life I am sure I was an Architect/ Designer/Decorator. If I could in my present life I would buy and redo houses all the time! If I was near you, I would love to come have a cup of coffee and make suggestions because I think I have really good ideas🤗😁.

Can't wait to be retired to have time, headspace and energy to knock our home into shape. In the meantime, I will try to take some baby steps. And I totally agree with Gillian - you are inspirational!

Oh, I find it fascinating that we are on opposite sides of the world and both Kondoing again to keep ourselves together! It is spring here in Australia, so the opposite vibe. The weeds are tripling overnight, I'm really not kidding! But the vegetables and flowers are also growing in leaps and bounds, and that is brilliant.

I think getting (or keeping) one's own house in order always pays off with feeling better inside, and I know it helps my family too, to see order and beauty at home.

I have to admit I have been waking in the middle of the night not feeling so positive, even though the pandemic is really very mild here in Australia. I think the drought and fires last summer have left me a bit anxious. I find it best to start the day with a big pot of tea, outside if possible, and to have a list that I can work through to keep me focused. I no longer try to complete everything on the list, I just move it to tomorrow!

I am also allowing myself to just mooch off once the basics are done, if I am really feeling out of sorts. We took a rare (these days) wander around the shops on the weekend and I even bought a couple of magazines and some 'naughty' food. It did us the world of good!

Chins up everyone, all things pass eventually.

I find I am much more inclined to do autumn cleaning than spring cleaning because I’m going to have to look at everything Indoors much more often. Can’t quite face the wholesale decorating that this house surely needs, but I saw a clever idea in a magazine (bought in person on a rare shop foray) which I might try. Painted door frames. Bright colours. Easy to undo if not a success!
