Am going to make apple and bramble sponge. I plan to put a couple of whole quince in and remove them before serving in the hope that the pudding will be infused with the flavour....do you think this will work?

Yes. Or, you could cut them up first and leave them in.

Quinces from ornamental quince bushes are edible. I have just checked. I didn’t want you to poison yourself!

Worth a try. I usually make jelly with them and save the cooked fruit to make a crumble or quince paste. They are, of course, hard as iron when raw and not easy to chop up. The brambles remind me of the long weekend at the end of September when my parents would often take us over to Bute and we would pick them and bring them back to Glasgow for jam-making.

Sounds delicious but think ornamental quince would be better as an aromatic than actually for eating. Must say the brambles have been fantastic this year.
