Electricals.

Sorted.

Recycled - one old computer, two old mobile phones, one small radio never used because we don't get a good signal, one coffee maker which doesn't keep the coffee hot enough, one iron, various cords purpose unknown.

More space both in the house and in my head!

Do you find Marie Kondo's book The Life Changing Magic of Tidying really is life changing?

I do.

And on the weather front - I know it probably won't last which is why I am enjoying every moment of it!

Well done with the Kondo progress! I agree it definitely creates more space in the head as well as the house. I used to know someone whose house burnt down completely and they lost everything - they said it was the most free they had ever felt. Glad the sun is still shining for you. Still some here too but thunderstorms and rain predicted later and tomorrow. The plants will be happy!

I'd hate to have that experience no matter how 'freeing'! Especially now that I mostly have just the things that bring me joy! Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts Lotta.

Ooh yes, isn't getting rid of appliances/technology satisfying, somehow?! Anything really, but those in particuar - although I got my husband to get rid of a lot, we still have two tubs of (to me) random cables and a spare screen (why??!) but you can only change yourself and nobody else, which I was reminded of in my reading yesterday again (Sarah Susanka's Not So Big Life, which I'm rereading)…
So yes, Kondo came at a time when I was looking for a top up and some cheerleading after a number of years of "less" and all the standard books/blogs.
I feel she has condensed a lot of the decluttering/downsizing/minimalising vibe into something very viable - plus the Japanese twist. As I once more went through my cupboard of vases and candleholders etc., yes, I did have Kondo in mind ("all in one place") and am happy to report two boxes of things I rarely use any more are off to the charity shop!! Of course, there's plenty left...

Yes, Barry has cables he can't part with (??) and you can only change yourself! Actually I am surprised and delighted at how much he has entered into the spirit of it. There's a logic that perhaps appeals to him...sounds like you are at that magical click-point - how lovely!

So far it has been life changing in this:
After having collected books about organising for many years there's the relief of not needing them anymore. And that relief goes deeper than just the discarding of books and thus freeing up time to read about nature or poetry.
The seasonal change of clothes has become so much easier and doesn't tire me out now. I might even start to enjoy it.
There is more time to create small spots of beauty, like the flower arrangement on your table yesterday. Mine has two peony-buds unfolding in slowmotion.

Who knows what will be in store for me after finishing paper and then komono. And yes, I've come back to her 'prescription' and fully concentrate on paper first now.

I think the book is unique and surely has a refreshing point of view, but something is keeping me from embracing the KonMarieMethod an making it life changing for me. I get inspired for all the great results you're getting, but when I try to dive in myself, I just feel stuck. Maybe I'll just need more time to absorb it. Yesterday I watched her on You Tube, she is so lovely, it's truly a delight to hear! (I saw the 92Yplus video, and the translator was great!) I was quite excited that she is expecting, since Marie seems to write mainly from her personal experience, and she has a very different lifestyle, sometimes I feels something is missing...I'm getting my hopes high for new books where she addresses kids...

Refreshing is a good description of the book! Perhaps just follow your intuition about whether or when to do it - she does recommend paying attention to your intuition after all, and if you don't feel a great need to do it, you can still enjoy her book and videos.

Glad you have managed to get out and enjoy the hammock and eat in the sunshine. We have has so much sun but it has been accompanied by a cold wind. Love your hat! Sarah x
