Simply..Kondo Friday again....

How quickly it comes round!

How slowly I progress! But I do progress..

In the Komono (miscellaneous) section Marie Kondo also mentions small change. (I am using her book The Life Changing Magic of Tidying to declutter once and for all!)

I am saving for something special and thought it might be useful to just go around the house collecting the small change  - we had an astonishing £109. A tin with something jokey on it about becoming a millionaire yielded £40 in £1 coins. There was £22 in euros from the last European trip.  Bags of coins which the children raised on various occasions for charity still sat in drawers and cupboards because when it came to donating it we simply sent a cheque for the requisite amount. Barry raided his piggy bank(!) The change for the plant money jar, a search of pockets and bags....we were richer than we knew!

What surprised us and annoyed us was that the banks didn't want it! None of the banks in town would take it, even bagged up and counted. It is incredibly heavy by the way.  'New rules on money laundering' they said. Tesco have a machine that will count it and take it, but they also take 9.5% of it. After a little persuasion our own bank took it.

Have you found money you didn't know you had?

And are you still progressing?

Wow, well done with the small change! I don't know if a raid of my house would yield that amount... Kondoing here is progressing very slowly after the initial momentum, but it is still happening. Yesterday I did my yarn and fabric. I love the blues in your picture - that photo looks so homely and welcoming I want to wander through and pour myself a cup of tea...
(By the way, I'm dying to know if Barry's piggy bank is actually a pig?!)

Slow progress is better than no progress Lotta - and do come in for a cuppa! Photos of pig to come...

Freda, is the tea steeping for Julia & me to come sit in the garden? What a lovely thought! Love the picture...so simple but looks so elegant.

BTW, I just learned that Outlander, the book I'm reading, is called Cross Stitch in the UK.

We have spent the last three days plugging away in the garage. We have a double garage, but nowhere to park the car..... We have kept each other going by saying "this is the last time we will have to do this" as we load complete and utter rubbish into the car on another dump run. We were so glad it's been wet and windy this morning so we had an excuse to stop!! Loved the photos of beaches by the way!xx

'Oh well done! I know I will never again collect so much stuff and it is such a good feeling. Will you celebrate when you drive the car into the garage?

That's a substantial step into the direction of something special.
Progress made here too, but very slowly also. I work at different subcategories of 'paper' over the week to keep it interesting. My shredder makes overtime.

hi freda and all, yes, i thought i had been progressing quite well, until i packed my car for an extended holiday. by the time i was done, i was exhausted and quite disgusted with myself for all that i had brought!!
on the good side, though...when i arrived at our cabin in the woods and put away my clothes using the kondomari method, i have used up only 3/4 of the usual space...so something is taking root for sure!
now to kondo the books and mementos around the cabin...:-)

I think we should all just progress slowly slowly and be extra kind to ourselves as we go....enjoy being at the cabin and swimming in the lake Julia!
