Simply..Kondoing the kitchen....

I made the mistake of starting at 10.30pm and didn't get to bed till 1.30. But I slept well  (the sleep of the righteous?) and am pleased with a good job done before Christmas starts in earnest with a lunch for eight coming up soon..

.
I began by getting rid of everything past its sell by date, then putting like with like. I now know what I have got which is a good start, and can reach everything I need regularly.

When I once had a problem with my shoulder and was getting physiotherapy I deliberately put tea, coffee and all the things I used most often at a slight reach or bend....better than the gym! I still do this.

I have to confess to not doing very well on the cooking front. I'm needing to look afresh at Simply Eat soon....

How did your country do in the PISA tests?  I have always been interested in why the Finns do so well and this blog has an interesting and thoughtful explanation.

So funny to read this as I have been cleaning the kitchen cupboards also this week. In my case spread out over an hour or so every morning. I wish I had a better (and easy) system monitoring things getting past their sell date. I put a small sticker on things I take out of cartons into jars but even then things get out of date here before I notice.

At the surface we do quite well (above average) on the Pisa test in the two categories they outline at the start, but it's such a pity results are declining since 2006. I wonder why..

I also hate to waste food but sometimes it's inevitable that a little bit gets overlooked. It is lovely when this job is done though.

I watched a programme about Korean education and the contrasts between them and Finland are amazing yet both get top results, Fascinating..

Well-deserved rest after all that labour. Cupboard cleaning is a pain. I need to go through the bathroom cupboards and get rid of old cosmetics and lotions. The house should rise a few mm after that pitch out.

Not surprised at some of the mediocre US results. There has been a steady decline in some areas of education over the past decades as curriculum design--especially mathematics--has gone through multiple shifts that have done little to improve overall skills. And don't get me started on the how little history and geography is known by the average student...just sad.

Congratulations on all that work Freda! My solution to a simply kitchen is having only a small amount of storage and no pull-out shelves. That way i have to pull a lot out to get at things at the back..so i always see what i have. My family tease me because i can create a meal out of what seems like an empty fridge and pantry...needs recipes? I've got them!
Hahaha...must read about PISA...i did not know....
