..and make no apology for showing it again. It's beautifully crafted and I find it very moving. But it's the music too, and I have adopted the first line of the song as a kind of motto since I first heard it - Take all your chances while you can.. Do you have a motto to inspire you?

Yes, this is a bit of Dr Who that is once seen never forgotten, and is beautifully played and crafted all round. I would also recommend the BBC film about Van Gogh made many years ago now that starred Benedict Cumberbatch before anyone knew his name. Filmed in a Scottish manor house in the depths of a very cold winter, it is magic and moving, and shows Vincent's battle with the world to be and express himself and the world as he saw it. On a lighter note, the perfect film to recapture lost youth with laughter and compassion, try the Bill Nighy - the art curator in the Dr Who clip - film "Still Crazy" about the reunion of a warring Seventies pop group and what happens next. Stephen Rea, Jimmy Niall, Tim Spall, Billy Connolly, and Frances Barber are among the motley crew. Funny and life affirming, with some pretty good music, too. As for a motto - Chesterton's "I say naught for your comfort..." is a great leveller and calmer, but Joyce Grenfell's comment: "I am not interested in the pursuit of happiness, only in the discovery of joy" .remains something to never forget.

I watched the van Gogh film today and especially liked that it was all in words from his own letters. Excellent. Thank you for that and for your inspiring mottos.
