Simply..make an effort....

You;ll be glad you did.

It's very rarely that if I push myself to make a little more effort I regret it afterwards.

They say A man of words and not of deeds, is like a garden full of weeds.

Oops..

Well I call them wild flowers, though those reeds are definitely weeds and the alchemilla has become a weed,  but I do need to make more effort here, and I'll be glad I did come Spring!

I was interested in this article by Mariella Frostrup about the escalation of intolerance she sees, and the volatiltiy of emotions (see second paragraph of her reply). Big challenge, big effort required.

I agree. I did some yardwork today and put out the extra effort, so glad I did what I didn't want to do.

I walked down to the bank to put a cheque in. So I’m pleased to have done the chore. The walk is fairly dull but there are enough trees with berries in gardens and streets to give colour. Also it is necessary to get out and be moving. I also found the Mariella article helpful, as much because I’ve noticed the same amongst my acquaintance and nobody is finding any of this easy. But the sparrows (the Gang!) are on the feeders this morning so, even though it’s grey out there, there is life. Onwards and upwards peeps.

Onward and upward it has to be. Backwards and downwards is just not an option!

I feel like doing nothing .It’s pouring with rain here, my operation got cancelled the day before(not enough anaesthetists),I’ve done very little except go for (admittedly lovely) long walks and read ever since. I’m sure that if I do make the effort to do some proper tidying and housework today I will feel so much better and enjoy my weekend so much more. My op is rescheduled for 25thNovember, fingers crossed!

Oh what a shame PennyL! I had hoped you would be recovering nicely by now, though it did of course cross my mind it might be postponed. Another mental reset required? And a good book or two? X

Thank you Freda. I’m trying to remain upbeat, as I’m not in pain, so I’m in a better position than a lot of people waiting for an op. I’m also trying to be philosophical about the uncertainty of whether it goes ahead before Christmas. Letting go of uncertainty is definitely challenging for us mere mortals!

Oh, how frustrating! Just what you needed not. Take care in the meantime.

I feel for you Penny, having been in that situation on more that one occasion (broken screening equipment, more urgent cases cropping up at the last minute ...). You'll get there. Wishing you well.
