Art moves you.
David Hockney.
As good a definition of art as I have heard.
Does this image move you? And if so, can you describe in what way? And why?
I would sincerely like to know.

The color and texture delight me … it does move me but I can’t come up with any words.

I have looked at this for a few minutes several times since 7.30 this morning. Don't think I would use the word 'moves'. Snowdrops are one of my favourite flowers, so they attract me and I have enjoyed studying the photo, noticing colours and textures.

What a difficult question! I find it a very beautiful photo composition. I love the contrast between muted colours of frosty glass and worn paintwork and the vibrant container. Snowdrops are always a messenger of Spring coming and lighter days to me , and always gladden my heart when they appear. I saw them as the bridge between the frosty winter and the bright spring-like green. I don't think I'm expressing this very well but hope it comes some way to answer your question.

To be truthful, this picture did not move me, as such. My eye kept being drawn to the base of the glass, as I struggled to determine what actually was the material directly underneath, was it some kind of moldering substance,? I found this puzzle distracting me from the overall composition. After a day of thinking about it, I changed tack and started to try and think what was in the artist's mind, what was it that he or she was saying to us.What I came up with, was celebrating beauty in the face of decay and neglect, a kind of determined defiance to look at something lovely. It reminded me of a line from a letter St.Paul wrote while in prison. He says (among a list of other things) "Whatsoever things are lovely,........ meditate on these things." In this troubled world that we live in, that is still good advice even today. Not sure if this is a suitable comment, it is the best I could summon up after chewing it over.

My feeling has been perplexed and slightly unsettled.

P.S. I tend to notice how things are positioned and placed.

Intrigued rather than moved. I am attracted to the natural elements, particularly the patterns made by the frost on the glass. I also love the peeling paint and my curiosity is roused by whatever is under the plastic cup. It looks as though the plant might be growing up through the bottom of the cup which almost seems to float in front of the other elements.

This has had the rather surprising effect of reminding me of a house move when we let the removal company pack. They put some delicate glass snowdrop stems and leaves into a tin without any protective wrapping. They were smashed of course. They had been my mother’s. The move was thirty years ago!
