Summer. I have decided, is my favourite season.
Picture
I like the light nights. This was taken at 11pm last night.

Breakfast outside iwth a little bunch of buttercups from my own tiny meadow (gives me a thrill!).

A cold paddle instead of a cold shower this morning.

I think I relax more in summer than in any other season.

Which is your favourite season?

Whichever one you are in, have a lovely weekend.

Is it quiet in your long light nights? It looks like it, so much so that I wished I could tranport myself to one of these, to hear for myself.

What I love about summer is having lunch and dinner outside and the wild flowers at the roadside (more appearing every year), the colours of the fruit of the season, yet my season is autumn.

Hope you had a wonderful midsummer barbecue on the beach.

It is beautifully quiet Cath, though depending on the tide you might hear the oystercatchers piping call - they feed according to the tides not daylight. Eating outside is a joy. We had a lovely day thank you.

I was wandering round the garden late last night as well. It was such a lovely evening for the solstice. For my favourite season I think it would be whichever one it currently is. Although I hate travelling to work in the winter I quite enjoy the long nights in a cosy house with the lights shining. Plus and minus to each one but always something to look forward to in the garden. Hope it stayed dry for your barbecue.

I love that we have four distinct seasons. I hope you had a warm and relaxing day today too Sheena.

like sheena, I can find something in each of the seasons to like & enjoy.

but Freda! I found a good thing regarding the 17 year cicadas! The birds were so busy eating them, they left the sour cherry trees alone. I was able to get enough sour cherries at the farmers market yesterday for 2 pies. usually the farmers don't have cherries because the birds have decimated their crop. This year, 3 farmers had them. But that's the only good thing I can come up with for them.

Oh cherry pie sounds delicious - all the more special because of the cicadas. How extraordinary!

I am so happy the sun is shining for you and that you are able to enjoy some al fresco living. I do like that black and white cup and saucer by the way. In France people have been celebrating the summer solstice with the "Fête de la Musique" since 1982. It was nice that it landed on a Friday this year and more people than usual could stay up to enjoy the festivities. We are expecting a heatwave this week with temperatures rising to 38 degrees. Can't say I'm looking forward to that ...

It is a shame we don't really have a national celebration of midsummer. Your festival sounds lovely. I've experienced midsummer in Sweden where everyone celebrates it. Hope you survive the heatwave - we are supposed to get thunderstorms!

Hi Freda, a few years ago, i would have said summer was my favorite also..but spending more time at the cottage and lake, i have found so much to love with each season...even the cold days have their magic! And even the days with no leaves on the trees...:-)

All the seasons have their attractions and I think that the deep relaxation I feel in nature in the warmer months makes it, by a little margin, my own favourite.
