Simply..new habits....

Getting up earlier is one of my new habits since I went to the wonderful  health retreat in January (see this post).

That was such a good decision! At the time I booked it I felt as though I was running on empty and I can truly say I haven't looked back. More good decisions and good habits followed. By making a few simple changes I eat better, sleep better and move more.

I mention it today because I have been talking to Katrina and she tells me there is now one place due to a cancellation, on her next retreat..see here. Perhaps it is for you? :-)

I love this card which says 'Make It Happen'.

Have you acquired any new good habits?

About four months ago, I started doing a French lesson every morning using an app on my tablet. According to the program, I have learned more than 450 words and am up to 22% in my knowledge of French. I keep a small (messy) notebook as I do the lessons--writing down words and phrases. I repeat various lessons periodically. And, although I haven't started it yet, I bought yet another notebook to copy over items from my messy one so as to organize my thoughts and consider what I still need to learn and reinforce meaning. For me, physically writing things down more than once (not typing) helps me to retain the knowledge.

Only wish I could go on that retreat...maybe someday.

What a great habit! I too find that writing and seeing things written helps me learn.

I was going to say that sadly i have not created any new habits..but then i remembered that yes, i am really making an effort to smile more...scrubbing a pot? Smile! Concentrating? Smile! Doing taxes? Smile! At aged 65, i am finally thinking, why get wrinkles over all this?

Sadly I only seem to have aquired a few bad habits over the past months. It -once again- made clear how much I need my slower pace and time for reflection.
How wonderful your retreat has such a long term and profound effect. It surely says a lot about the quality on offer there.

I am sure you are working to undo the bad ones and you did learn from the experience. The retreat was such a life changer for me.

I'm so glad the retreat has had lasting benefits Freda. Most of my new habits over the last few years have been health based - good nutrition, sleep and exercise make a HUGE difference! My newest good habit has been getting up early throughout the winter by using a wake-up light - brilliant. It made winter a lot easier and I was more positive and productive too.

Investment in our health is such a good habit is it not?
