Simply..no snow....

..but sunshine and frost. Lovely.

As many of you know winter is not my favourite season.  I can do 'hygge' in November and December and enjoy it. I love Christmas and usually have visitors at New Year.  But after that is over, especially if the weather is grey and wet and windy, a kind of cabin fever can set in! That's putting it a bit dramatically, but I can feel quite low and find it harder to motivate myself.

I talked with MaryB in Saturday's comments about my books and how I miss them (I have AMD), but today I took from the shelves some of the books which interested me when I could read easily. Alnoost all the authors do podcasts or have YouTube channels....brilliant! This will keep me going through some of the darker days.

Are you as affected by the seasons and the weather?

Stay warm.x

Good morning, Freda.

I'm very much affected by the weather at this time of year.
I find the cold in my ancient cottage, incapacitating: so am dressed like the Michelin Man, complete with beanie hat indoors.
I'm driven indoors by the incessant rain: I love my baths, the sea and swimming pools, but otherwise hate to get wet. So, am trying to keep fit with 15 mins dancing to the radio daily.

Freda, I very much liked your comments about surrendering to this dark time of hibernation, and I do this in the afternoons and evenings.
However, I do want to recommend to you, using a light box for SAD.
It provides nearly full spectrum light, and I use mine for 15 mins each morning, about 1.5 meters away. After a few days, it begins to lift mood. Morning use also helps night time sleep. I use Lumie.com 's Vitamin L FSL SAD light.
I hope ' this is helpful. Best wishes as always, Susan.

You can shut up and wonderful picture of keeping warm and fit in your cottage! Given how up lifted, I feel after two days sunshine your suggestion of using a light box sounds like a very good idea. Thank you so much.

Yes, I hibernate, even on warmer-than-usual winters like this one.

I know it makes sense! But I resist..

I agree with Susan that light can really lift my mood. We have a conservatory leading from the dining room which makes a light space to work in - but cold! I also have a stock of warm but cheerful garments - today I'm wearing an Art Deco floral embroidered wool kimono over a wool polo neck, its a dressing gown but doesn't look like it!
