We are sunswept and windburned. Otter spotting, wildlife watching and botanising, (and Wimbledon when it was wet!)
Have you been to the Outer Isles?
...but the island of North Uist in the Outer Hebrides on a long-planned trip with friends. Bittersweet without Barry, we were three instead of four. We are sunswept and windburned. Otter spotting, wildlife watching and botanising, (and Wimbledon when it was wet!) Have you been to the Outer Isles?

Thank you Freda! For sharing your impressions of a beautiful piece of our earth. I may never visit North Uist but now I have a lasting impression of its cloud formations, the tranquility, the sandy beach reminding me - can't help myself - of that of a campsite near Melon Udrigle long ago- the beautiful blues and greens.

Should be Mellon Udrigle, of course.

A big adjustment to do the trip without Barry, but a lovely place to pause and replenish. It looks stunning Freda - those colours...

It was a big adjustment Lotta. The colours when the sun came out were amazing. Enjoy your sea views!

what a place for a pause! looks lovely, but so far north is the water too cold to get in? beach walking is right up my alley, so it wouldn't matter to me. so glad you went even though you were 1 & they were 2...too often the 1 bows out.

Not too cold to paddle in Cathy, and on a good day in a shallow sandy bay you could swim. I was so touched that my friends still wanted me to join them and am so glad I went.

Much further West! But yes we are blessed with such variety here that there is really no need to go anywhere else, unless your whole darn family ups and leaves!

There is something special about wild places that takes you out of yourself...
