Simply..nothing to say....

I know!

I don't believe it either!

Have you found that when someone close to you is ill, everything else seems to stop? I'm on automatic pilot, remind myself to eat and drink, make all the necessary decisions and put aside everything that can wait. Truly back to basics.

I check the weather forecasts ten times a day - we have had snow and gusting winds of 40 to 50 miles an hour and I didn't visit the hospital yesterday or today, though friends and family 'across the water' did. (We are not on an island but a peninsula, and are dependent on a ferry service. The alternative is a 75 mile road over the Rest and Be Thankful pass which is prone to landslides..) Instead I slept, and slept, and slept some more!

There is a sense of 'keeping the home fires burning' and it was good for me to rouse myself and take a few photographs.

Tomorrow looks calmer and the ferries will be running, but gusts of up to 72 mph are forecast for Monday so they might well be off again. Country living, eh?

Barry continues to feel better each day, but it is still a mystery why he is so ill. More tests are due. Thank you all so much for your kind wishes, prayers, and virtual hugs - they really do warm our hearts and make a difference.

A day at a time then....and aren't mobile phones just marvellous?

It's at times like these we come to realise how far from 'civilisation' we really are, any other time we wouldn't have it any other way.
Take care, thinking of you and hoping you'll have good news very soon x

We usually love the remoteness as I know you do too! Thank you Jessica.

I'm sorry you haven't been able to get to the hospital Freda, but on the positive front you have been able to rest yourself. It takes a lot of energy being in that state of suspended animation when someone you love is ill. I know that feeling well. There is a lot of comfort in the ordinary things though - the 'chop wood, carry water' things. The things that help take you out of your head and back into the present. Your pictures look very cosy, keep looking after yourself and I hope you get to see Barry tomorrow. So glad he's making good improvement. x

There is great comfort in the ordinary things Lotta, thank you for mentioning that and for your positive thoughts.

'Back to basics' as well as 'a day at the time' seem so very wise to me, albeit hard work too, with the many uncertainties you are dealing with.

Usually we get the storms you have few days later. I've spoken to the wind this afternoon (done a bit of magical thinking), requested a change of plans and come early this time. I hope you will be able to travel tomorrow.

Wishing for a continuing good recovery for your husband and hopefully some clarity for you both soon. Take care.

Thank you for speaking to the wind! (He's not listening yet but tomorrow is looking better....) All magical thinking can only be to the good!

Dear Freda, i was so sorry to hear about Barry. I'm sure he is in good hands and I hope they will be able to discover the cause of his illness and each day he will continue to improve. I do hope that the weather improves and you will be able to be at his side. Thinking of you both. Sarah x

I heard this morning that it was stormy with you again today. I do hope the ferries were running and you were able to get to Glasgow. Sarah x

Sorry to read this - hope all is made clear asap and you can appreciate the silver linings. And yes, I do know how everything somehow stops and the need to nest for security :o
All the best for Barry, Freda!
