Simply..ready for the new?

I feel as if 2022 has left me with more loose ends than a bowl of spaghetti! And as if the time is out of joint and I have not yet processed enough of its happenings to be quite ready to move on. The communal trauma of the pandemic is I think still playing out, with everyone at different stages in their recovery and all of us trying to be kind and sensitive, but walking on eggshells. Many people are still vulnerable.

The world events - politics and war, strikes and royal rows - are far from resolved but on the persoanl front four of the people I love who have been in and out of hopitals since early December are all home - so that is wonderful!

I an enjoying January's episode of As The Season Turns, beautiful flowers and the new winter bedlinen in the guest room.

What are you enjoying this January? Are you full of optimism and new plans?

I think I need another week or two to catch up..

It's a relief to hear you voice these thought, Freda. Mine too.

I'd like to answer the questions that you pose, but ..... I'm too sleepy, and must trot back to my my nest of leaves under the hedge, and curl up, soft body innermost, spines outmost, and sleep, until the world regains some sanity, the blue sky appears and the sun warms my body.

It would be wonderful if many of the problems in life would neatly resolve themselves but, sadly don't think it will happen this year either. Oh well, back to life lived as a journey not a destination.

You're quite right that post covid trauma remains a big part of our lives. Somehow the huge optimism that was always part of new year seems rather too grand now. As someone who is in the clinically vulnerable category I am still walking on eggshells. I try not to stress or overload on problems too big for me comprehend or to influence . Each day a step on my life journey , taken gently and with appreciation for the small beautiful details around me. So yes , I am enjoying January , one day at a time . I am glad your loved ones are safely home from hospital and I think your guest bedlinen is gorgeous!

My guests seemed to like the new bedlinen too, which was lovely.
