A little sunshine and warmth are so restorative, don't you think?

I had a beautiful and hard day's gardening. So satisfying.

Spotted the first cuckoo flower - favourite (perhaps only?)  food of the orange tip butterfly. I gathered from around the garden several pots in flower and put them together on the table..

I made up an order from the Sarah Raven catalogue, and potted up the little viola labradorica which had seeded itself under the table.

Ready for a hot soak now.

I did enjoy the comments and interesting links about your first sightings of harbingers of spring yesterday. It is a good time of year. I hope you got some sunshine. Our forecast is good for tomorrow too....

Lovely plants. Such a great variety. I grew up in the UK and my mother had such beautiful gardens with lovely wide flower beds. In the US, our temps get so hot in the summer, the more delicate flowers just can't survive. Weather has been sunny last couple of days here--31C yesterday, but only 15C tomorrow. The only drawback about spring here is the massive amount of pollen.

Gardening in a hot climate is not easy - we tried it for three years in Cyprus and were just getting the hang of it when we had to come home....

You've inspired me to get my work done early and get out into the garden! Beautifully sunny here today. My favourite time of year. Lovely pictures and nice to see another of your colourful coffee cups - I love those! Have just spotted my first anemone buds this morning...

We got those at Tate Modern at the Matisse exhibition - couldn't resist! Hope you enjoyed the sun.

still recovering from a massive illness, but my gardening effort yesterday was bliss....i lay in the sun listening to the birds, and watched as 3 swallowtail butterflies and bees feasted on nectar from my favorite viburnum, bursting with fragrant blooms...it reminded me that i have let myself get so busy, i don't just stop and let nature nourish me....i am enjoying nature, but usually working in it, not being in it.

We are often trying to control it, aren't we! Get well soon Julia.

hahaha..my sister says that we move to the country to enjoy nature and then we immediately try to get it under control....the mice, the weeds, the mosquitos, the mess of dead branches everywhere, the deer eating everything they can get their champs on!

Quite possibly I am going to adopt your idea of a few pots on the table, it looks summery. The cuckoo flower reminds me of my childhood, they were abundant in the wild then.

It has felt like summer today too - wonderful! I plan to grow them from seed for Coronation Wood this year.

There is nothing like a day of gardening especially when everything is growing so fast and there is so much work to do! You probably need a good soak in the bath to recover. I always enjoy receiving my order from Sarah Raven it always feels like a treat! Sarah x

A second day of gardening in the sun and I wasn't too sore either! Am looking forward to that treat..
