Simply..snow and blog friends....

An unusual day.

Waiting for snow which didn't come till after dark, but messages came all day long from all parts of the world and I imagined you all - in summer and in winter, in cities and villages on mountainsides and at different times of your days....isn't it amazing?

Waiting for the promised snow made me uneasy and restless - a bit like the tension I sometimes feel waiting for a storm to break. I got ready to take the bus to town as I need a few more Christmas cards, but it was so grey, the rain suddenly got heavier and the wind was getting up and the bus was late so I came back in to the fire and my books and my blog.

I think the snow will be gone by morning so I togged up and went out into the garden for a wander in it - only and inch or two....

I hope that the snow comes for you ... and the bus.
It's been lovely to hear where your friends live and a little about their lives.
I love the simplicity and message of your candles in the dark.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it too. The snow didn't last but the bus will come tomorrow I am sure!

No snow here either. Just a very cold and miserable day. That said I enjoyed myself going into Upton on Severn, a local small town. We went to the wine merchants to choose a few bottles and were given some excellent mulled wine. Then a stroll to the florists and ordered a centrepiece for the Christmas dinner table and finally to a cafe for excellenthotchocolate and a pianist to entertain us. Finally getting into the Christmas spirit.

Yes, that odd feeling of everything pending...just waiting, so that one can proceed! It is definitely one of unease! I am happy that you got out to enjoy that snow..it does not looking promising for more before christmas for you or for me!
Your last post might be the most memorable yet, Freda. You have created a “community”. I felt as though i wanted to comment to every single person...now, if only we could see each other’s faces! Cheers to all who gather here! What time is tea served? Hope you have snow.

Isn't it lovely to know more readers? Feel free to communicate with them here - there is plenty of room! I love when you talk to each other here. Rain soon...but today was sunny.

As Julia said, quite a community here. Love picturing folks all around the world, sitting down with a cup of tea or coffee, reading your blog.

It seems quite a few of us are not crazy about our weather at the moment. My weather moan: Yesterday was yet another day of pouring rain. Early yesterday, WDC broke the record for most annual rainfall which dated back to 1889--and there are two weeks to go. Raining again today, And another inch of rain is predicted overnight this coming Thursday and Friday. So far, there have been 23 days this year with measurable rainfall of over an inch--yesterday's total was 2.55". Our local rainfall is approaching 70" for the year (double Seattle's rainfall so far, often touted as a very wet place). The sound of foghorns from ships on the Bay has become frequent due to periodic dense fogs. A body of water is now standing in our backyard, but it certainly has none of the beauty of yours, Freda.

Okay. Moan over. V. fortunate to have a roof over my head and a warm home so mustn't forget to be grateful, too.

The constant rain and the foghorns conjure up a mournful image Mary. I hope it improves soon! Have more tea with me...and all the others.

I definitely broke a record yesterday in times visiting your blog in one day. And each time I opened the comments there was someone new to meet!

Snow came during the night here and was still there when it got light. Now it is gone, sky is grey and it's cold, it will be dark again soon.

Wasn't that fun? Just love it. Makes up for the rotten weather so many of us are having (but not Connie, Jessica from Rusty Duck or Paulette I suspect..)

Your pictures feel very wintery. Not even a hint of any snow here. Like Cath, I think I also broke my record reading comments here yesterday... lovely to get a sense of everyone in the background... the energy around your blog feels 'padded out' now if that makes sense!
