You're welcome. Always think of you when I see anything about Venice. It was interesting, wasn't it? The speed of changing circumstances these past months certainly has us all reeling in more ways than one.

As for me--doing fine. Simply taking each day as it comes with few expectations. Haven't been off my property since March 13th. Bird feeders are entertaining these days--so many different birds, including Hummingbirds. My only planning activity at the moment involves deciding which vegetables to plant in my new (US) Mother's Day gift of a cedar raised bed garden stand (along with bags of organic soil) which is now set up on the deck. I just have to be able to get the plants. Garden centers are open over here, but so far I haven't ventured out.

Hope you can maintain the positivity of your retreat week. Know it did you a world of good. Please let us know if there are things we (readers) can do that might be helpful to/for you during this strange time. x

Oh thank you Mary! It's good to know how you are getting on and good luck with those vegetables. Nice project. Staying in touch is key I think, for we are all in this together. And it is not easy for many, as the video of Venice so clearly showed.

Yes all well Freda. Trying to reset a little to get over the next few weeks... Have got into some very bad habits. Your retreat sounded very helpful. I have been for my walk and done a Pilates class so not too bad by 9am. The weather has changed and that affects my mood almost more than anything else.

I'm so glad to know you are ok and doing very well before 9am Lucille!
We are still enjoying beautiful weather which makes a huge difference.

I remember the wonderful silence surrounding your garden from our visit - but maybe it can feel a little too silent at the moment when you are spending a lot of time on your own. I think Nicola is 100% right though to continue your lockdown - I am not sure what Boris has in mind it was all a confusing jumble last night - we need clear instruction to stay safe.

I was very impressed with her statement today - clear and empathic and with a message to children, but the thought of it going on much longer is hard isn't it. As you will know Viv, I am nissing Barry badly..

Both more and less quiet here with neighbours at home all day but then very few planes and distant road noise . Cowal must be a huge contrast to Venice even in terms of population density and the quiet a bit deafening. The birds are a delight though. I watched a magpie very delicately drinking from the small dish of water I have on a table. Strangely, I find myself very busy every day and find myself feeling quite pressured to get work in the garden and house done before I am back at work.

It feels like an opportunity to 'catch up' with things Sheena. I am catching up with my garden which nearly got away from me. I do love quiet but this is different. Deafening as you say! .So glad you are well.

Your photographs remind me of poet Wallace Stevens' poem 'Thirteen ways of looking at a blackbird'; only ten more to go Freda..

While knowing the facts and figures of each new day, while following the news just enough to keep me from getting anxious, while having found a satisfying rhythm in each day and knowing I am and we are coping, I somehow find it difficult to express how I am in these unknown times, how I am feeling deep down inside.
Maybe it is the complexity of it all, maybe it is because of the scale.

I will keep watching the blackbird Cath.
It's an incredibly complex situation we are in, with no precedent, whick is probably why I feel overwhelmed if I think about it too much. It sounds as if you have found a balanced way of coping and I am so pleased you are well.

It was so quiet in Brittany. It was so quiet on the run through France. Switzerland seemed so busy in comparison and our small town seemed almost normal, though with even more people walking and on bikes even than usual, with their new „at home“ freedoms. Now things are going into „new normal“ and it all seems a bit surreal. Following news in several countries is confusing - much of what our very practical government says is almost the opposite of what BoJo is saying, my mind is just boggling...
I think I prefer staying at home, in the garden, a gentle pace and observing the surprising level of nature around us (it‘s not exactly urban, but a lively market town closely connected to agriculture and trades).
Not always an option, though, there are things to be seen to that can‘t wait, sadly. Still, the appreciation is there.

Different countries and such different ways of dealing with this. I wonder how we will look back on it. My mind is boggling too Swissrose!
