Simply..still wishing....

I am looking into possibilities here...

I could visit lavender fields closer to home than Grasse - there was one not an hour from home - the most northerly in UK at Millhouse (no longer there I fear. It was a bit of a long shot!) There are some lovely ones in Yorkshire, Suffolk or Norfolk.

But I am greedy for the whole experience - the sunshine, the warmth. the acres of colour. Jasmine and orange blossom. Roses. The whole perfumerie thing.

I know Grasse will have changed since I was there as a pupil on a school trip when the whole ambience made such a deep and lasting impression on me.

It will surely be busier, if not crowded.

Have any of you been to visit lavender fields?

Do you have any tips?

I am loving reading about your wish lists...

I've been to lavender fields near Gettysburg, PA. I was totally amazed at all the different types, colors & fragrances. I should plan a trip back...it would only be about a 5 hour drive.

The Oregon coast & Scotland are on my wish list to visit. Oregon is more probable than Scotland, but never say never.

After Iceland, the Oregon coast is next on my list. Although I am originally from Scotland, I have so many places yet to see in my home country. Scotland is more probable than Oregon for me ...

I have yet to explore the far north west of mainland Scotland - we tried once and our car broke down...

I have to confess to knowing nothing about Oregon...will do a little Googling! I agree with never say never!

I just love your header photograph Freda. All the talk of flower fields reminded me of a swimming pool I once swam in completely surrounded by fields of sunflowers... those and clear blue sky were all you could see... heavenly. That was in France too so I can completely understand your desire for the whole experience...

That sounds wonderful Lotta. The header photograph is from my first post (not my own although all that followed are). I am having trouble with Weebly's new edit for the header so am reverting to the original for now...

I can't even grow a pot of lavender - way too wet here, even when I use a good mix of grit. I'd go for the sunshine and the heat if I were you, before we all rust!

I have succeeded with a pot (about 80% grit) and pick just enough for a bunch to hang in the wardrobe each year, but in the ground - it lasts a year only.

I went to Grasse as a child and I can still remember the sight and smell of the town. I have always wanted to visit lavender fields. There is one near Salisbury, the Isle of Wight or Norfolk just need the time to do it! Sarah x
