Simply..stormbound....

Here in UK we are having some horrible weather. I hope you are not affected by power cuts/floods/wind damage/transport diruption etc.

I can get a bit cabin-feverish and sluggish staying indoors for a few days (especially when I had some interesting plans!).

So it has been baking cakes and clearing cupboards for me.

How did all of this

fit in here?

Quick clean and a leftover bit of lining paper

and that's better.

Get rid and find other homes for what's left.
It might have been nicer to photgraph the cake!

How is your paper clearing challenge going?

I have at times felt a little embarassed that I have to devise 'games' to make myself do the tedious chores but I have now found scientific justification for such methods.  It goes something like this. Each tiny micro-goal achieved (each tick on the to-do list for example) gives a small hit of dopamine. Lots of small hits of dopamine produce adrenaline. Adrenaline gives you energy to achieve more goals and before you know iit you are feeling good!  Yes?

Nice and neat. Well done, Freda. And for using the enforced at-home time productively.
Having been cabin-bound for a fortnight: icy roads, gales, flooded lanes, I have been oscillating between manic productivity and lethargic apathy.
I am feeling a wimp, at not venturing out, having watched a YouTube video on how young people in Siberia, go out and enjoy themselves on the warmer Winter days ( a balmy -50C.)!

It’s all relative isn’t it! A fortnight is a long time to be cooped up inside.

Looks very impressive and you should be able to pick out the thing you want without having to move three other things. That is my dream cupboard.
I have finished the papers and moved onto books but it is slow going as I keep stopping to read them. Obviously need one of your games to help me there, Freda.

Well done for finishing your papers! I should think that is quite an achievement. Even after doing my 407 I know I will have more. .. Books Will take a long time, but how lovely to enjoy them as you do it.

I love the explanation regarding micro goals . My energy levels are not great so small tasks are the best I can achieve . I gave up lists because I wasn't ticking anything and it was frustrating rather than encouraging, but I see that if I split them up into mini tasks , it is possible to achieve the same feel - good levels. Your cupboard sort out looks good. I'm embarrassed about the useless clutter lurking in some of my cupboards.

It is very interesting, isn’t it. The cupboard clear out only took about 20 minutes. And it did make me feel good,

Susan’s words describe the last 10 days for me … manic productivity and lethargic apathy, mostly leaning in the apathy direction. I have read 4 books in a week and beginning to feel guilty. The manic part occurs during sunshine and we have not had any of that in way too long. I love the big polka dot lining paper. What fun to open that cupboard, Freda. Might try the game method you have come up with.

Hello, Mary R.
I would count reading, as falling within my personal definition of productivity: a wholesome and worthwhile activity.
So, you have been very productive, in my books. (Pun not intended!)

I do agree with Susan. Never feel guilty about reading books! I think we are all longing for more sunshine. It will come.
