Simply..struggling....

..as I am sure we all are with the state of the world. It's hard, isn't it. This morning I remembered this-

Grant me the serenity to accept the thngs I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Some serenity and courage and wisdom might be good.

If I could find a little of each in my days it might be helpful.

I do have a moment of serenity at breakfast and at dinner when I light a candle on the table. That little pause is peaceful.
Watching the colour suffuse the tulips is  calming and beautiful, and beauty susutains me as I have often said.

And then of course there is the off-switch on the news...

Why is that such a big issue?

How do you cope?

I simply do NOT watch the news. I cannot … I get terribly depressed as it sounds like you are. It doesnt take long to stop. Spread the joy you always do, Freda. It is what you have control over.

The international cooperation is inspiring. I wish it could always be so. Thank you for this.

I feel exactly the same. I think the worst thing is the helplessness, it seems there is nothing one can do to improve things. So I try to concentrate on my own local area, and the people who I care about, my friends and family and try to be helpful and kind to them. I find it very hard not to watch the news (my husband and I worked in TV news) so I'm afraid I continue to watch, but when things are just too painful I leave the room! Silly I know, but it helps me to feel as though I'm staying in touch with what's going on, but preserving my sanity as well. It's even affecting the way I think about my young grandchildren. They are a delight in my life, but I find myself wondering what sort of world they will have to deal with.... I hope you will continue to do what you do with this blog - it is wonderful and always makes me feel better. I wish I could do the same for you!

I'm sorry you are feeling so low in mood and I understand how overwhelming the problems of the world seem to be. I've stopped listening to the news . I can't change the big things. Instead I try to make each day in my small corner , a time of gentleness , kindness and gratitude . I think small acts of kindness and positivity can have a ripple effect. I know that my illness has made me focus on the small treasures in each day rather than long-term future but by doing that , I've found peace and contentment that I didn't have before. I think you share so much joy and positivity on your blog and that makes so many of our lives brighter. Hope you are soon able to rekindle serenity and contentment in life .x
