and delighted..when I found my husband 'Kondoing' his clothes!!

I paid attention when Marie said only sort your own things. I bit my tongue often, never suggested he follow suit, and resisted offering help, but I did show him the results of my own sorting. (I was so pleased with it all.) I sang Marie's praises and read bits out from the book occasionally. No, make that often!

Harmony exists when you are both singing from the same hymnsheet!

I am concentrating on removing all the Not Joy stuff from the house and the boot of the car before I move onto the next category - kitchen goods and food supplies.

Mindful that Marie suggests you do the whole job in six months I am kind of longing for it to be over but I can see it will be seven....and am telling myself that's OK.

Is the end in sight for you? Are you there yet?

I discovered that son 2 had Kondo'd his underwear while packing him up to leave Cambridge. Almost as proud of that as his stirling degree result.

Wow, that's impressive! Kondo-ing his piggy bank was just the start! I suspect mine will be more like a year (don't tell Marie), but at least I will have done it. I'd love to know what her own house will look like when she has her baby. I'm picturing neat rows of little socks and nappies at the beginning gradually descending into chaos... I'm sure she'll have a plan for that though! Maybe book no 2?

When Miss Minimalist had her baby she didn't go all out for the things most new moms want/need. And when Christmas came, she told everyone they could bring 1 gift each and it wasn't to be anything from Disney, Sesame Street, Barney etc. She didn't want to tap into the hype from these. After reading this, I cut back on what my grandkids get from me. I want to show them they don't need lots of 'things' to be happy or have a good time.

They say kiids learns by example, what's to say adults don't, too.

Sorta off topic - I read a headline (didn't read the whole article) about a couple who moved into a 98 sq ft home. That's just about 12' x 8' or 10' x 10'. A little extreme to my thinking. Do you think minimalism, like anything else, can go too far? It's like people are trying to out do each other with how little they can live with. I embrace minimalism, but want to be comfortable.

I also sometimes get the feeling that things get out of hand with downsizing and minimizing -- almost competitive, in a strangely "anti-mansion" way. The reality is that if all of us lived in 100 sq ft homes with little in them, life would be a bit less interesting. There's no shame in a comfortable and tastefully appointed home.

Well that happened over here too this week. And I must say, once he started he was much more determined than I was in the beginning with my clothes.

I too have made good progress this week, I feel the end of the paper tunnel coming in sight. My husband also suggested I'd go through the (his) folders in his study.(insurance policies, manuals, and more in that category). Even after having done all this paper stuff for so many weeks I'm really pleased with that. I will probably need another fortnight or so and then can move on to komono. Yay.

The six month limit could very well be the only suggestion I am sure about not following, having to work with limited energy.
