..for your encouraging comments on last Friday's Kondo post!

Maybe I was meant to let the guest room get choked up with stuff to just throw up the contrast between the feel of being in it and being in the other rooms in the house, which I have to say are 'glowing'. Swiss Rose thank you. Elaine talked of her house breathing a sigh of relief when she had finished Kondoing, and Julia said my home looked serene! And it is true that the rooms (all except the guest room) feel light and pleasant and fresh, and nice to be in.

Between Fly Lady and Marie Kondo I have a quite serene and calm home and I'm loving it more than ever, and it is taking less time than ever before to keep it clean and functioning.

Lucille mentions that there has been 'no backsliding' in her home and I thought I'm forgetting to celebrate progress! I had planned to celebrate the end of each category (STILL on paper!) but why not celebrate no backsliding? That's pretty good really - put a candle on your table and a flower and raise a glass to 'No Backsliding' with me tonight if you have managed it. (Or even if you haven't..)

Well done us!

PS I am posting this early and taking a week's blog break. Keep up the good work (whatever it is) and have a great week! Oh, and if you are thinking of passing your stuff onto your children you may want to read this first. (Thanks Julia.)

Freda, I know I've said it before, but you are such an inspiration. My Kondoing has hit a wall, but I know I'll return to it, and am so glad that my wardrobe at least has improved! I'm enjoying Magnolia more than ever this year, and am rereading my "French women...." books in an effort to be able to fit into my summer clothes, and they are just the tangible things! Thank you, and enjoy your week's blog break! Pennyx

What a good idea to celebrate not backsliding! My progress has come to a bit of a standstill, and I've decided that's ok as I have plenty on my plate already. I'm slowly learning to appreciate how much I actually get done, rather than being hard on myself for what I didn't achieve. As some wise woman said, life is not a 'to do' list.

Received my copy of Kondo in the post today. Can't wait to start reading and shifting the clutter. Not sure I will manage to get the rest of the family on board though ... Enjoy your break.

enjoy the break, freda....my suspicion is that while you are away, you will think of all kinds of places in your life you want to kondo...and will come back fired up!
you are definitely keeping me on track. i stop off nearly daily with a load of stuff to recycle, donate or throw away.

I thought the article very interesting - I shouldn't think my two girls will want any of my stuff either though they have expressed dismay at the idea that we get rid of our old pine farmhouse kitchen table that they grew up with as it is a bit of a history table as most things happened there from candle making to baking! Hope you had a good break.

I saw an interview that said Marie Kondo has been named one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people of 2015. Charlie Rose, the interviewer, had no idea who she was or what she'd done & asked specifically about her.
